You got that tire changing machine ready? I have a rear tire thats as flat as Columbus. It would make a good drag strip tire.

I don't - it's still in the box. But tomorrow would is as good a time as any to put it together. The issue I see that will take some thinking and fabricating is finding a way to not bolt it to the floor. I want to mount it on a sheet of diamond tread steel or similar material; this way, I can move it around the shop and not have to mount it permanently.
Call me if you need to use it. It's here and you're welcome to use it, with the aforementioned notes. I imagine it will take some time to become proficient with it.

Hey Howard
A little off the subject with this next question, but any chance you might be thinking of STC? I will be a last minute decision.

GlenI read John's thread every day, watching the available # of rooms get smaller and smaller, and still don't know if I'm attending. I want to go but I need to make it work so I can go. Mine will be a last-minute decision also; If we go, let's ride down together. I'd appreciate your company, and I'll pay more attention to the GPS than Joe did last year. :D

I hear ya! Either way its a pain in the butt to get it mounted. Its too bad that they dont ahve some kind of platform for it to be bolted to.

Hey Howard!
Maybe I can help with your tire pedestal issue. I work for a company that makes structural steel plates for industry....all Id need is the dimensions of the base you need and I can see what it would cost to build a 1" stl plate with mounting holes on casters so you could move it.

Hey Howard
That sounds good about riding down together, and I have a GPS now also so we should'nt get lost, and hell I was just trying to keep Joe in my sights but at his rate of speed we could have detoured and still probably beat you guys there?
If I go I will probably pull my trailer and take my tent and warmest sleeping bag or there is always the microtel if the ironhorse is sold out.

FWow - that would be great, and your help is appreciated! You know, there are many No-Mar owners out there and you might have a nice side business with this.
No-Mar recommends a plate at least 3' x 4', with the unit mounted at one of the 3' ends. The hole pattern would have to match their base, of course. They use this setup at the IMS and other shows when they are traveling with their products. You have to be able to stand on the plate, across from the tire changer, so it should be a non-slip surface of some kind. No-Mar also welds nuts to the top of the plate, to which they mount the unit, leaving the entire bottom surface of the steel plate in contact with the floor. The addition of casters would make the thing truly portable - within a workshop - but you would still have to be able to stand on the whole setup without it rolling around. If a caster option isn't feasible, just having the plate with appropriate mounting hardware would be huge.
This screen shot from the No-Mar site's videos shows all 3 models mounted on plates. Mine is the middle model.
Let me get back to you on some dimensions. In the meantime, if you look at No-Mar's site (http://www.nomartirechanger.com/video/show/2)you'll see their setup for yourself.
Thanks!

GlenGlen, I'm going. I'll be contacting the Iron Horse to see what's left, if anything. The Microtel in Robbinsville is a nice place and nearby. We stayed their 2 (3?) years ago. As I found out last year it's more fun to stay at the Iron Horse because you're right there for all the festivities, and there is no late-night ride over the hill to Robbinsville.
I'll post my info on John's thread.

FYikes - that's more than half the cost of the changer itself. Thank you for checking. That setup also needs nuts welded to it, for mounting of the changer base.
Would thinner steel be cheaper, and would it work?
It may be better to just go ahead and mount it on the floor, or get the hitch mount for approx. $90.
