As Griff noted in the CCR forum, the economy seems to have put to a halt at least three rallies.
Honda Hoot: "American Honda has announce that the 2008 Honda Hoot will bring to a close one of the most successful motorcycle rallies in history. Over the years, almost a quarter of a million guests have attended the Honda Hoot, which was born in the hills of Ashvillel, NC and eventually moved to Knoxville, TN.
Rider Rally 35 was cancelled. Rider Rally was scheduled for April 17-19 in So. Cal. They do not think its a good idea this year.
Legend of the Motorcycle Concours d'Elegance which takes place the first weekend in May, has been cancelled for 2009 and the plan is to resume in 2010. This weekend show is centered around vintage Indian are other marques. The 2010 even is not planned yet.
There is some doubt going around that the Honda Hoot will not be resumed. There is a rumor going around that Honda by be closing US plans and moving motorcycle and car production back to Japan, since the policies changed in 2006 -7 to remove any penalties for doing just that. If there is any truth to that, its definitely not what the economy needs right now.
