Don't buy the BMW tank bag, like I did, it's rubbish. Too small.

Chicane has made the best tank bag for the LT by far, in my opinion. Don't know what the status is on the one they designed especially for the LT though, it is still not on their web site. It is very similar to this one:
http://www.chicaneusa.com/canyon.htm

I think it is a little smaller, and the attachment method is designed specifically to fit the top of the oddments box and still allow the lid to be opened with the bag in place.

I had one I bought at CCR a couple years ago, LOVED it! The rain cover WORKED, and could not be lost. It stuffed into the little zipper pouch on the top front of the bag, and had a built in tether.

I agree Dave, the Chicane seems to be well designed for the LT. Seems impossible to contact Randy (from Chicane, met him at Breckenridge) to buy one though. I understand his second version is slightly improved on what I saw then. I guess if I havent been able to buy one by August, I can get one at Elan. Seems a long time to wait for a tank bag though. :-)

Bought the Chicane LT bag in Wyoming last year at CCR. Works great. The ONLY thing that I do not like about it is; it's made in China.

Sierra BMW Motorcycle at www.sierrabmw.com (http://www.sierrabmw.com) has the newer LT bag from Chicane on their website. Has the hydration feature like his other bags, but as yet no specific bladder to fit inside.

Get the Chicane bag. It's awesome. Beware though of the strap that attaches to the latch. I run mine behind the latch taking the pin screw out and inserting the loop then re-attaching the latch. It gives the loop more length and won't make the compartement cover hard to close. They also make an optional map pocket which I have as well. Although, with the nav system, I haven't used the map pocket yet.

I know it seems ages Ken but all good things come to those that wait. 3 plus years latter we have our ride, waiting for registration (JENNA) in Melbourne in March. Ocean Blue Metalic. First service (1000 km) booked for 9:30 on the 14th. Packed up the Quantum (matching colour) today in our 40 ft container with all the rest of the house (currently sitting on the floor writing this) Last flight on Sat for 3 days and taking Rena as it seems only right she is with me on my last sector after 32 years of "breaking the surley bonds of earth" Oh and I've bought heaps of farkles since Brekenridge, heck I've been through 3 upgrades of the smartire and I havent even installed it yet :-) It's going to be one great year getting it all together in Aust. prior to long term Europe. The Handy Lift awaits and very soon time will be ours. YEEESSS! And you know the best thing? Aniversary tomorrow (27) with the best girl on the planet, iching to start our journey, and the champs is on ice ready for breakfast. Cheers and see you all at Elan.
