I'm ready to purchase a 1200RT and am looking at one offered by BMW of Daytona. Being in Los Angeles, I will not be able to take a look at the bike or ride it home - it will be a ship purchase.
Has anyone dealt with this company and what opinions are there? Also, what transportation companies have people had good luck with?
I'm looking to pay around $13K for a 2006 or newer RT with am/fm/cd as well as all the regular stuff.
Thanks,
John

I'm not locked into anyone at the moment, but they currently have pretty much what I'm looking for at a price I'm willing to pay - of course I'd rather have it in Black or Blue, but what the heck, red is a nice color.
I'd certainly be willing to pay for the airline ticket home is that works out. I'll give Dusty a call and see what he can do for me.
Thanks,
jdg

Wow, what a coincidence, there is a guy over at Sport Touring looking for a deal from them too. Be careful he doesn't out bid you and drive up the price.

BMW of Daytona is owned by the same people as BMW of Orlando. You might wabt to read my my experience in the Dealer experience section, titled "they didn't even kiss me first" From my limited experience I am sure you could find nicer people to deal with

Hello neighbor. RED is a beautiful color and only available on the 05/06 RT. I know because I have one. :D I hear BMW of Daytona deals on bikes like Chicago BMW. No experience with them however. Contact www.funtransport.com for a quote on the shipping. I personally think $13K is too high for an 06 RT. It should be in the $11K-$12K range. I have had Ruby for just over 3 years and I love it. Good luck with your search.

We bought my wifes R1200ST from Daytona. There was some things that had to be taken care of after shipping (damage not noted before sale but documented by shipper) Beware-get everything in writing, have examined before shipping and get any service records first. They took care of these problems but it took a few trips to a local dealer who wasn't to happy to work on a "internet bike" But we also found a very good dealer ship Cycle Specialties in Modesto CA. who helped us get all problems taken care of. PM me if you have any queations.

I've heard that they have hidden costs on ebay or out of state purchases. Check into it before you buy. There are a couple of good RT's for sale on ebay.
Check this '08 out. The 49 litre top box is worth 800 USD alone. Only 622 miles. He's selling it for trade-in value!!!!! And no taxes. Shipping would be about $600.00 on a good motorcycle shipper. Tied down like it's in your own enclosed trailer.

I bought my 07 RT from them last year, and had them ship it to my home in Fort Worth. No hidden costs. They were straight with me, and I got a great deal. My experience with them was very easy.

Glad to hear that report. However, the '08 RT on ebay is right at trade-in valuation.

Yikes guys I am bidding on that machine. But I feel the price might go a bit too high for even me.

Why are you bidding! Do the BUY IT NOW. You'll be getting it at TRADE-IN value and no sales tax. It doesn't get any better than that. I'll buy the top box from you for $600.00.
Disregard all of the above. He took off the buy it now deal. I wouldn't bid. I don't like it when a seller changes the rules after the bid is in progress.

Yes I was outbid. BUT I have 2 leads further south from snowy NH. If one of them works out my goldwing is history. Although it is a great machine it is heavy.

I haven't bought a bike from them, but I've bought other stuff from them off ebay.
My experience was that their service was excellent. They bent over backwards to work with me. There were no hidden costs. When I needed to make a return, it was simple with no problems. YMMV.
