Just purchased a 2001 K1200 LT. The radio display window is cloudy. When I wipe it with a damp cloth it seems to get a bit better but the goes back to the clouded display quickly. Is there some type of cleaner that might work?

Try a Colgate toothpaste. I used on my 2000lt a couple years ago and it worked just fine. :)

Do you wipe the inside or the outside of the window? Obviously wiping the outside is simple, wiping the inside is a couple of hour job.

The best is denatured alcohol... Just rub it on with a "Q-Tip" and wipe dry. Next use a heavy clear packing tape or if you can get clear self adhesive vinyl lay it over the display and cut to fit. I put vinyl on mine 2 years ago and it has never clouded up since. it use to do it every time I washed the bike.

Mine was like that and I just wiped the outside with rubbing alcohol. Then I covered it with scotch tape. Been fine ever since.

You can also use Maguires swirl remover and some elbow grease. :D

Another vote for wiping the display with denatured alcohol. Did it once, been clear ever since. I did not cover my display afterwards but it couldn't hurt.

I used 91% IPA. It's what I had around the house. It worked well enough.

After cleaning, I covered it with some Eagle One plastic protectant but am dubious if that will keep it from fogging again. Next time I will try the tape trick. I have some clear 3m vinyl tape that should work well. It's like electrician's tape but clear. Neat stuff. Got it at Ace Hardware.

I found a meguiars product that's especially for clear plastic (I think it's actually marketed for headlights on dodge vehicles, which discolor badly) - and it worked great! the only problem with it is that the bottle is about a 10,000 year supply for the BMW display :D

...rubbing alcohol. Works great! I also did not cover the display window with anything.

Yep rubbing alcohol. Had a cloudy display, hit it with a little alcohol and then when dry applied a little wax. Don't know if the wax made any difference, but alcohol was all it took to get rid of the clouds. This was about a year or so ago and the display is still fine.

Thanks for all the help. The alcohol did the trick, Now that I can see the display, I am finding my AM & FM reception is not very good. The reception is not any better with or without the antenna. Any thoughts would be appreciatted.

If the reception is not any better without the antenna, you probably are not connecting to the antenna. Check the set antenna set screw to make sure the cable center is contacting.
