View Full Version : Site location for the January RTE ....

... at the Eve's Cafe, 521 E. 3rd, Lampasas, TX 76550 (512)556.3500. It's actually about 4 doors to the right of the site flag.

Lookee here. You can zoom around, change to map or satellite or hybrid, plus left click the mouse and move the earth!!!

And I think you can get driving directions from where you are, using the leetle box in the middle of the site.

Reckon 12-noon would be a good time. After the roster runs a few dayz, I'll give 'em a call and a heads-up on the numbers, so they won't lock the door!!! And for those of us in the 'hood, breakfast at BBAC around 0800?? I'll be there.

Hey, Shawn - wish you could make it, butt understand - this'n would be an overnighter for sure. Be nearly a 9 or 10 hour run each way. You gotta move down here a leetle closer to the Hill Country, man!!

And hey, when we gonna do one up your way? I'm making a KS run sometime in late February, early March - maybe we could schedule somethang around that and see who comes outta the bushes up in OK or KS, or even AR. More on that later.

The plan for us (Delores and I) as of now is to ride to Blanco and spend the night Friday. Then ride with the group on to Lampasas for lunch on Saturday.

Get some use out of the Suitcase Trailer.

Hopefully we can chat about a future RTE in the Tyler area while we are there.

Hey, Bones - not to worry too much. We'll check out the venue and if it passes, we'll do'er agin --- we usually hit 'em at least twice if they're good with the service, passable with the food and have plenty of parking space for tire kickin'. :D Stay tuned.

Hey Dan - good to hear from ya, and thanks for the tips. You reckon either one of those venues would bring a few Houstonites out on the road for an RTE?? We haven't done much over that way, 'cept for me, Dean and Bruce running to Fayetteville and meeting up with D. Brittain and bride, last year.

I do remember that Paul Yeager hosted an RTE in Port Lavaca a few years back, and that drew a pretty good size crowd. So - maybe after Barrett does his thing in a month or so, we'll take a look at Seadrift, or Victoria. And Kellenbenz is working on sumpthin' for the east Tejas crowd, so we oughta have the next few months covered. Oh yeah - and Rango is doing his Red River Roundup in May. Dang, we may have to do more'n one a month sometime!!

Thanks again, Dan. Hope to see ya in south Tejas sometime soon.

Hey, Bo - glad Cindy is making the trip. And spending the evening around Salado is good --- the Stagecoach restaurant there has fed us a coupla times in the past. Good food. And the front lobby will letcha park the scoot right in plain site, under the Port-a-cache.

Yeah, I grew up in Port Lavaca. From August to October last year both of my parents were in different hospitals in Victoria and Port Lavaca. I would go and visit on Wednesdays and Sundays. Of course then you have to go eat. We would go to Baytown Seafood and then take a plate to Dad in DeTar Hospital.
Haven't been to Rockport in a while. An uncle used to have a beach house on Fulton beach. Will look for The Big Fisherman next time we go to Corpus.

Alrighty folks - I've updated the main post in this thread to show the info for the new RTE venue in Lampasas, (Eve's Cafe, 521 E. 3rd), since the Limestone Grill no longer exists. I've included the Google Earth hybrid satellite shot for Eve's Cafe. You'll notice that there is plenty of parking space around the town square - hopefully we can congregate almost directly across the street from Eve's Cafe. BTW - the cafe is actually a few doors east/to the right of the Google site flag, almost right above the *t* in St.

Cy'all there, and lemme mention, Eve's menu is heavy into German flavor, butt if you're not hep on German food, there is Napoli's Italian restaurant a few doors down. And for info, since we're gonna be *waitered*, be prepared for slower service than someplace like Cooper's or the Hard Eight. And, there are a lotta shoppes around the square, for those that must!!! And here is a quick copy of the latest roster in the main post.

Just got home! Grif's mishap aside, it was a great day actually. I know that a lot of the wussies aren't going to believe this, but I did not get a bit wet and rode about 570 miles in the last 2 days. Good burrito at the bowling alley and wonderful German food at Eve's. Best part though were the 2 rides....first from Blanco to Lampasas with Mr. Dick leading on the still great looking Toad and the ride part way home from Lampasas following Andy on the Burgman. At lunch Andy described the Burgman as a quite capable scooter. After following him I surely have to agree. I hope Andy stayed dry on the rest of his ride to Houston. I'll see if I can post a couple pics later.

Barb and I made it home fine. Great time. She agreed to ride to Lone Star after we left Lampasas. Got the new windshield installed. Then a nice ride home from Austin. It was great seeing three other riders at Eve's. Grif--what happened? Glad to hear that you are OK.

The last RTE I attended--about a year ago at Sammy' Cafe--I was the only one there. So this was a great improvment. First RTE for Barb. I think she is hooked.

Cindy and I left Flower Mound about 1:00 missed all of the rain, a little windy and we made it to Salado about 5:30, had a nice evening and then we took the long way back to Flower Mound today. We had unbelievable weather today. We stopped for lunch in Crawford, then followed a bunch of Valkyries back to south of Ft. Worth then took off home to Flower Mound about 3:00. Cindy did great for her first long ride; she even is ready to go again. Sorry we weren't up for riding in the rain, maybe the next time.

Ron,

believe it or not I was JUST at the back of the front all the time. I saw the road wet, but never got more than 5 drops on my way home. Enjoyed riding with you, but you gotta do something with the light of yours!

'side I have to agree, there are a lot of sissies here. a few drops of rain and they all stay home. LOL :D

Gonna miss ya, David - butt renewing long-ago friendships ranks right up there with good samaritan gigs. So, drive safe; have a wonderful 'renuion' (sic on purpose); and watch for the February RTE site.
Well worth driving to Nashville to see my old friend. I had a great time, would do it again anytime. The weather cooperated with me, going and coming was dry. Rained Saturday night and blew out before I left Sunday. Had to run the air conditioning as the temps got near 80 on the way home.
