My wife and I are planning to take a trip to Indiana in eary June to celebrate our anniversary and I'm looking for ideas on where to go. I've heard that southern Indiana is nice near KY. We're planning on taking 4-5 days. We like staying at B&B's and exploring small towns.

Richard

There's a B&B at the Story Inn (www.storyinn.com) which is right in the middle of the best riding in the state. 135 north and south of there is awesome riding. Just north of there, Nashville's great for walking around and perusing the the craft(or crap) stores. SR45 between Bloomington and BeanBlosssom is also a great road. They can get a lot of bike traffic on weekends, but during the week you'll have them to yourself.
Brown Country state park has great romantic cabins along with great roads, beautiful scenery, and great hiking and is only minutes from Nashville and Bloomington.
Another great area is between Cincinatti and Madison. SR 262 out of Rising Sun is a beautiful road to ride.

I agree on the Brown County area. I used to live in Jeffersonville, Indiana back in the 60s just across the river from Louisville. We do make it back up every year. Last year we stumbled on the ride from Louisville to Madison, Indiana on the Kentucky side. Basically River Road to Hwy 41 then Hwy 421 to Madison, IN. Saw lots of bikes. Oh... a GREAT place to cruise over to for a super catfish or seafood dinner is Mike Linnig's in Louisville... been there since 1925 out on Cane Run Rd. by the river. http://www.mikelinnigsrestaurant.com/ The portions there are humongus. The fish and a cold brew outdoors in the shade/sun can't be beat. On our trip up there last year, we went the long way from the Dallas, TX area and took the Natchez Trace Parkway from a little north of Natchez to Nashville, TN for nearly all it's length. I would ride that again in a heartbeat. Good luck on your trip. Now you've got me all fired up to run the LT up that way this spring also. We just don't know quite when we'll go yet but it is definite.

Pay attention to Lurch. 135 etc. are truly great roads.
Story is a neat B&B , some rooms are haunted but others aren't and I wouldn't let
that stop me anyway. I've stayed there.
All towns he mentioned are cool too.
Brown County park is great.

+1 on Brown County, and the little place called Story.
Check out Madison, along the Ohio River. It's an historic river town; the small museum (in the old train station) is interesting. Lots of neat little shops, a furniture store, and a diner on a very nice main street. You'll score major points with the SO for walking both sides of the main street. :)

Jim's Louisville-MAdison road is beautiful, gorgeous horse country with sprawling estates. If you go, after a stop in Madison, I'd reccomend following the river east in KY til 42 turns into 127 as the road through Beaverlick (love that name) has some great twisties too. You can loop around the west side of Cincinatti and then come back on the other side fo the river to the Rising Sun area and hit some great roads around there.

A little more south past Louisville. Take I 64 west to Corydon exit and then go
south into town and then turn west onto 62 to Leavenworth. 2 great places to eat there. The dock or the The lookout. Then follow 62 to 66 into Magnet, Derby
and Tell City. This is the best southern Indiana has 2 offer. Brown County and Madison would be on your way.

Hey Lurch, I just noticed on Google Earth that if you go west on Beaver Rd. from Beaverlick, you'll find Big Bone Lick State Park. You can't make this stuff up.

Yeah , baby!
Sounds like my kind of ride (so to speak).

Yup! We drove some test vehicles through that area and I wanted to stop and take pictures of just about every sign I saw! There was a Big Bone Lick or Beaver Lick church right along the road. I had to laugh thinking about a wedding invitation to someplace named that!
Aside from the names, it's pretty country!
