I have done it, and fabricated the "grill" for the cooler myself as well.

The removal seems complicated... well it IS complicated, but nothing beyond our capability. No weird tools. Just take your time and lay things out on the floor in some logical sequence to facilitate reassembly.

There is a magnificent, long, many photo thread over at bmwsporttouring.com on this and you can see my project there too.

Hopz;

I did a search over on bmwsporttouring and could not find your project. Could you point me in the right direction. - Many thanks - Ferd Nesler

For an oil cooler grill - protector instead of buying a grill protector I made my own...for about 25 cents.

Utilizing fiberglass mosquito netting, I cut a piece that I thought was the shape of the cooler. Since the netting is flexible, I then inserted the mesh between the cooler and the front fairing. Total time - 10 minutes (cutting, and inserting).

Good luck.

Anyone know where I can find the PMX062 material for a grill guard that was in one of the links?

Try google...

My grill cover is expanded aluminum. Easy to work with and cheap. I found the metal in the outdoor cooking department of a large store. Look for a BBQ grill vegetable grilling mesh sort of thing.

I'm pretty sure mine cost $1.25, and you can grill shrimp on the barbie too.
