View Full Version : Wings Of Gold (Turn Signal Question)

I just installed a set of Wings Of Gold. Bike has run-n-lights conversation on front turn signals also. The wings of gold flash on when turn signals go off. Thus creating a wig wag, one on one off. Is this correct or should they both flash at the same time. Do I have them wired wrong? Do most people use them as marker lights and turn signals or wire just for marker lights. Bike is a 2000.
J-Pegs are next.

With a single filament "bulb" you have two options for wiring it: like you have it, or on all the time as a running light. As a turn signal, yours is operating correctly.

By the questions you are posting it appears that you are suffering from LT withdrawal from weather related inability to ride. How much snow you have up there? I have about two ft. deep between storage and the street. I feel your pain! :D :D :D

Thanks for the info. You're right, winter has me snowed in. Most roads in the area are dry. My problem is driveway and road in front of the house is soild ice for 500 ft. 2 guys I ride with put on 175 miles yesterday. High was 30. I may have to get some salt and a ice chopper. I did it last spring to get out a few weeks early. Neighbors figured I lost it when I was chopping ice off the road to get a 2 feet wide path to dry pavement. Only had to do about 50 feet. Trip planning for the spring is getting old, so its working on the bike.

Hey Jim, how do the Wings of Gold look? I have been thinking about them. Can they be seen in the daytime?

They can be seen in the day time. Not as bright as the front turn signal. They look good and I would do it again.

Some of them, and maybe these (http://motogear4you.com/mcart/index.cgi?code=3&cat=5) for the bags might the the solution to the side lighting we talked about at the tech session. :)

Good morning Dave. How are things?
Yes, I have looked at those and have'em on my want list. I am looking at putting something on the sides for lights.

I have both the Wings of Gold and the Saddlebag LED kit (of course I would have that installed :-) and the combination is quite nice. Lights up the side of the bike nicely.

And Jim, to elaborate on your question about the wig-wag effect, the Saddlebag LED kit is wired the same way as the Wings of Gold, so the saddlebag LEDs blink alternately with the rear turn signals.

If you use Dual 3 watt Luxeon Star LEDS in each Wind Deflector, it is *very* easily seen day/night time.No need for heat sink, they dont get hot so long as you use them as indicators not running lights

And in the saddle bag reflectors use Luxeon Star 1 watt Leds. You can put in 7 of them per side and you can see them easily.
I only have 3 per side due to the price of them as they are a bit on the expensive side.Again, no heat sink needed, they dont get hot so long as you use them as indicators, not running lights

Dezare,

Be careful on redesigning the wings of gold since I spent a lot of time working on the idea. They are set up correctly for what they are intended for.

Either running lights only, or running lights and turn signals.

Disclaimer:

If you alter my wings of gold, then you run the risk of issues, heat, turn signal issues, or melting plastic by using other creative features other then what was sold to you.

If you have any questions about the wings of gold please contact me for further details.

For what its worth mine are on as running lights and blink opposite of the turn signals when activated.

I absolutely love them. Very classy and perfect for perpendicular visual aid.

I created the Wings of Gold a long time ago. I used to sell them myself, but it got too busy.

If you go to www.cyclegadgets.com you will find them under BMW.

They make your wings under your mirrors light up and used as turn signals or running lights.

Thank you
