After reading the forum guidelines carefully I think this is ok to post. It was send to one of my employees by his son-in-law who is Australian and lives there. I, as a legal Immigrant myself, belief that there has got to be a middle ground between the Australian approach and ours.

If the moderators think that this is inflammatory, I respect your opinion and you deleting the post.

Prime Minister John Howard - Australia

Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.

Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques. Quote: 'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.'

'This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom'

'We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society . Learn the language!'

'Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.'

'We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.'

'This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom,

'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE"

'If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.'

John Howard, Prime Minister of Australia.

Sorry Wolfganag, but I have to advise you that at the next election, John Howard and his party were voted out of power and for the first time ever, the sitting Prime Minister (who was John Howard)...lost his seat in Parliament.

Howard speaks for a minority of Australians.

Of course he does! Not even the slightest word about welfare or all the other great social programs? Nothing about what "the state" can do for you?! All so anti-PC! Shameful. Let that be a lesson to him! ;)

Howard speaks for a minority of Australians.

After reading up on your last elections and the issues it seems he lost by a slim margin.

Popular vote 6,545,814 to 5,874,178 (Wikepedia)

The interesting thing is that a public official in Australia can make such statements without causing a huge public outcry and calls for apologies and immediate impeachment. If there was such backlash I could not find any references. It seems that Mr. Howard had won 13 elections in a row and that voters were ready for a change. According to the BBC he mainly lost on three issues: Economy, environment, and Iraq. Immigration is listed as issue four.

My real motive for posting this is that I am tired of American politics and our ridicules quest for political correctness. This seemed refreshing. :D

Little Johnny is long gone, usual change of tide after quite a few years in Liberal Land. Labor is having a shot, lets see what they can stuff up this time round.
We even had KRudd's (our current PM for over a year) youngster at our work today, no Secret Service, no cops, just a kid enjoying his holidays checking out whats going on in animation land.... it's nice living here
Oh, and 7/52 riding weather to boot! :p
cheers guys!

Edit: Just remember who kept Barrack out of his special guest house leading up to his inaugauration... our little Johnny who's getting a special nod from his buddy, big W.

Actually, via a little sarcasm, we're commenting on the pathetic PC that has taken over Amerika. Hopefully, the sillyness does not reach the same level in your country!

Well, in that case, how bad of a guy can he be? :D
