Hello all one of my wifes lifetime dream is to see the northern lights(and see Hawaii)when would be a good time to see the northern lights and how far north do you think we would need to go?

Northern lights or Hawaii? Screw the northern lights . . . see Hawaii! Used to live in Omaha; been in your town many times (70's). Go Big Red!

Grew up in South Dakota and saw the Northern lights a time or two. VERY impressive! There's a tie in with sunspot activity. Might do good to do some research before heading up north, that's where you'll have to go to see them.

I have seen them in Louisiana, running north bound on the Atchafalaya river. I first thought I was halucinating and it took a few weeks researching to figure out what I had seen. I guess conditions were right. I would love to see them again.
