"Francis insisted in a phone interview that this is no joke or publicity stunt, though his tone suggested otherwise."

The sad part is that while congress probably won't address this but they will and have offered support to businesses in similar circumstances. The porn industry is suffering the changing media delivery paradigm that is affecting publishing, the music business, network and cable entertainment and news and the distribution of movies. All of this content will eventually be delivered over our broadband connections and anyone not refining their business model to accommodate the change will lose out.

Bailing out the 'big 3' is an example. While an automotive product will remain viable for some time to come, the production and distribution methods are going to have to become leaner and more efficient in order for them to survive. Chrysler and GM and to an apparently lesser degree Ford, have failed to address these changes sufficiently and the recent drop in new purchases have accelerated the crisis that was already looming. The current administration already gave them a bridge loan and Congress will likely give them some sort of bailout. If they do this, the porn industry is not a stretch.

It's my understanding that they will be creating a committee to get on top of this.

In fact, some of the higher ups in government said they swell with pride at the thought of helping those poor unfortunate waifs.

It was said that Mr. Larry Flynt thought that some of the congress members should jump all over it! That statement by the way got a real rise out of the male members of the media corp.

:yeah: :yeah: :yeah:

Where the hell is my 2.4 million dollar bail out. What do they have that I don't.... uh.... never mind!

I personally plan to keep abreast of the matter, although you have to admit it does smell a bit fishy.

With these troubled times, I understand there are some new openings in porn.

At least you know that your tax dollars are being invested in an industry that is going to be open about the screwing.

If the funds are approved, Congress better insist on a bigger bang for the buck.

Hey, the automakers are getting bailed out. Why not the porn industry? Tit-for-tat, right?

Hey, the automakers are getting bailed out. Why not the porn industry? Tit-for-tat, right? There once was a woman named Pat
who had three kids, Mike Mick and Tat
it was fun in the breeding
but hell in the feeding
when she found there was no tit for Tat.

That's what I love the most about this place: members generously giving of their own time and money to make sure not even one anchor is left--sagging! :D

More so than other industries, surely the porn industry is in need of protection.

It is the only legitimate business in need of Federal help. At least the porn industry makes no pretense about who is getting screwed, how and to what extent. All the others do the same, just try and hide it.

If my tax dollars are going to be spent to bail out a company or two or twenty because they can't effectively manage themselves, we should all at least get something from it. Imagine getting your own free video from "Girls gone wild" as a thank you. :histerica

I see one big difference here between the auto bailout and the porn bailout. We stand a very good chance of recovering our money on the porn bailout. There is zero chance of recovery on the auto bailout. If there is anyone that knows how to rise to the ocassion it is the porn industry.

Finally, an industry worthy of a bailout. I mean we can get along without GM and Ford, but porn?
