View Full Version : ice>Link Source Selector?

I seem to remember reading something about a source selector function for the ice>Link? Am I getting flashbacks from the 70's?
The reason I ask is that I need another audio input to the radio. I have a Sirius radio that I am currently getting sound from using the built-in FM transmitter. Sound is not bad, but I don't like the limited freq response and periodic static.
I have an Autocom installed on the bike but don't use it, so my thoughts are either a hard-wired FM modulator (not sure if this will improve freq response) or, looking into this Dension source selector. I want to say I read that this allows additional input(s) to be wired into the ice>Link so you can add a secondary audio input and play it via the ice>Link.
Anyone seen or heard of this beast?
Thanks,
OB

I have an Autocom installed on the bike but don't use it, My question is why? IMO, the sound wired to your helmet with good speakers is MUCHO better than listening to the bike's speakers at highway speed.
See my response to your post in the Satellite Radio forum about the FM modulator.

Not that I don't want to use the Autocom, I just don't have the money right now to invest in the headsets and potentially new helmets. I bought my LT used and there is an Autocom system installed, but I don't have anything to connect to the headset connectors. It's on the "roadmap"... :^)
At that time I will be able to connect the Sirius to the unused aux input jack on the Autocom.

I've got a '00 and connect the Sirius via a cassette adaptor. I thought the newer radios had an aux input that could be used with the Sirius. Hopefully someone with a newer radio will chime in.

Use the FM modulator. If you use it on the AutoCom it will override everything else all the time unless you turn the Sirius unit off and on everytime you want to do something different.

I do have two items that come up when I continue pressing the CD button after the CD changer: AUX and INTERCOM. There is only passing reference to these in the audio system manual, something in connection with the intercom (BMW system I assume).
Actually I don't have a free audio input on the Autocom, because the stereo is using it (connected to the rear speakers I think). Anyone found a way to use the AUX or INTERCOM inputs?

I had asked the same question a few days ago. There is a Source Selector put out by Denison but it is not available yet.
Here is a link to that thread:

If I hear anything, I'll PM you.

Bob, Whatever you decide, I would not recommend using the Autocom Headset for music, not even very good for voice. (not matter what Autocom Tech Supports says) IMHO it is a grossly over rated system.

Yeah I have seen some of the posts that folks replace the autocom speakers with those taken from Radio Shack headphones. Does anyone else make better headsets? I am assuming the headset connectors on the Autocom are fairly standard? I always heard J&M headsets were good, but no personal experience. On the FLHTC, and so far on the LT, I just listen to music/radio via the front/rear stereo speakers. Not the best sound-wise I am sure, but it will get me by until I can afford a good set of headsets.

FYI I listen 99% to music (radio/iPod) and radio (talk radio), don't have a phone hooked in, GPS or any other stuff (yet). What I am saying is that the fidelity of the music/talk is of far more importance to me than typical intercom features.
