Fix for the Baehr K1200LT and CB radio.

I finally have the fix for the Baehr K1200LT communication system and CB combination. It has been a long hard battle. But after taking my bike apart and moving cables , radio, and antenna’s many times and purchasing 3 different CB radios, 3 different antennas, SWR meters and countless filters, tie wraps, tape, etc, the list goes on and on. I have countless emails to the person I purchased the system from and Baehr USA and finally Baehr Germany sent me the fix.

It is a single filter cable that goes between the power wires (red and black) and the CB radio. From what I understand the filter converts the current from DC to AC back to DC therefore eliminating the ground loop inside the system. The Baehr cable number is ESF-05-02.

As soon as I installed the cable all of my problems went away. My CB would never work right, it had feedback inside the headset and would transmit one time and the next it would not.

When I would plug the two prong cable into the CB, I could remove the power ground and the radio would still power up. Now with the filter in place I cannot do this. So it proves to me that it did remove the ground loop.

I do thank Baehr USA for there help, they got the cable to me at no charge, it just took some time. Most of all I hope that this helps someone else having the same problems.

That's great news! I don't have the CB but I do get a lot of feedback when running the Icom FRS radio on bike power. I too have tried filters and the like with no joy. I wonder if this cable will resolve this issue too.

I found out that Baehr also makes a lower amp verson ESF-04-01 that they use on the Capo (Baehr FRS). I would think either one would work. Call Baehr USA, speak to Tom or Carl. 866-872-2347. I bet this would fix your problem.

Carl agreed the germans are WAY out of line in the pricing of this cable, but for now his hands are tied.
Did find out specificly how it worked. Basicly a small solidstate Dc-Ac-Dc inverter/converter used between battery and radio gear thats gets pluged into comm system.

So I am doing some researching on finding if a generic DC-AC-DC ground Loop Isolator is made for some non specific application that would work for us.

I ordered these cables 4-5 months ago. Surprised I have not received them yet. Will call Baehr on Monday and see what the deal is as far as pricing and availability.

For the record, Nathan (member here) did build me a custom noise suppressor for my LT that worked real good with no squeal etc when the ICOM was powered up from the bike. It was not plug and play. But it did require opening the the LT specific adapter box (the little black box that goes inline with the rear speakers) and soldering wires.

Dez (another member) posted earlier in another thread a diagram on how to ground stuff so there would be no squeals. I'll see if I can find that post. Maybe Dez could post it again.

I'm wondering if one of these inverter/converter gizmos might help solve the noise problems that some of us are having with the BMW CB and the VOICE II on the '05 bikes?
