well, it's just a refreshing change to be back to good old-fashioned strong-arming and back-scratching....

I suspect with a little digging you would find that power corrupts in every state. We just have the pleasure of it being pronounced. Question I have is why does it take so long to arrest them. Three years of investigation, heck he has been corrupt since day one.

I think it has taken so long because of the fact you mentioned. Illinois is one of the most corrupt states in the union. It is so pervasive and so deeply rooted it's hard for them to know where to start.

Now if they could only root out that crook Daley and everyone who is related to him and to Stroger, we might be able to save this state...

Boy, you sure hit the nail on the head.

I thought Capone died years ago....

The real question is why do people keep electing them. You know they are corrupt and as Daley said "vote early and vote often." Maybe you really don't vote them in but they rig it so they can vote themselves in.

Tom, we don't Chicago does. Probably similar to how the Twin Cities controls MN vote. And now the rest of the USA gets to enjoy our politics courtesy of BHO.

P, is this even a crime in Illinois?! :D
You know....Obama is the only honest and upstanding politician in or from Illinois...
He should be prosecuted on principle just for vacating the seat! :D Why not do both?

The things Blagojevich says and the manner in which he says them, sounds like some kind of drug-induced psychosis. I think this guy's cranked up big time.

Why would you hold a news conference and DENY any wrong doing when the AUSA HAS NOT accused you of any wrong doing?! Guilty conscious?

No, Dick Durbin, Lisa Madigan and a few dozen other come in the honest and upright category. But we have had a long history of gubernatorial malfeasance.

Obama has said he had "no contact" with Blagojevich or his office about the vacant Senate seat, and prosecutors say they are not alleging any wrongdoing by the president-elect.

As if the president elect would not have enough interest in a vacated Senate seat that he wouldn't discuss the potential candidates with the person who would appoint one. I call bullshit. If the seat had been in any other state, any president elect worth his political salt would have been all over it with whatever influence he might have on the selection process. NOT doing so would be not doing a very good job, politically, right from the git-go.

Just because Obama talked about it with the creepy Illinois governor -- and we KNOW that he must have -- doesn't mean he's guilty of anything. But lying when it seems that the truth should make a better story? hm...

"I didn't inhale" politics (tm)

It really is all quite interesting...........The main problem I have at the moment is the simple fact that I have hung on every word this fellow has said since the primaries. One thing I have noticed is that it does not matter what question gets asked or by whom. He simply does not answer. He states a lot of very eloquent rhetoric but absolutely nothing ever gets said.................nothing at all.

And it seems that the media..............who call themselves journalists..............don't call him on the fact...................

Conclusion: The president elect, (note; no capital letters), as well as the media, are still nothing more than entertainers......................... :) ta-da

We have been flambuzzelled..........................

I thought Lincoln was the last.
Pretty much. Jim Johnson & Edgar were the only 2 that I can remember in my lifetime, that served pretty much unscathed. Was told (rumored) that Edgar didn't run again because they(whoever they are) had too much on him. He ends up with some kind of lifetime position at the U of I. I live in central Illinois and we can't get anybody in that office from down state because of all the populace vote from that concentrated area. Blago wouldn't even live in the governor's mansion, but chose to fly back & forth from Chicago to Springfield in a helicopter at the tax payers expense. There's been a long running joke here along the lines that Chicago should succeed from the state & create a state of their own so that the tax money from down state could be used for down state, instead of everything going to Chicago. Seems as if Al Capone is still pulling a few strings from the grave....
