About as bad as any hangover I've ever had.

Back in October was in the hospital to have my shoulder fixed. Part way through I had an incident of "cardiac distress", surgeon freaked out, sewed me up and turned me over to the cardiologist. Got an angiogram, found a 40% blockage, not enough to worry about right now and a diagnosis of Prinzmetals Angina. Cardiologist insists that I take NIFEDIPINE (90 mg) and ISOSORBIDE (30 mg). That stuff gives me a headache about as bad as a good hangover and gets me to feeling about 30 seconds behind whats going on around me. Now I understand why some of the older folks around act the way they do, sit at red lights for 30 seconds, not entirely aware of what is going on around them when on this stuff.
Cadiologist won't clear me for surgery unless I'm taking this stuff and I'm not wanting to take it. Maybe take it day before and day of surgery but I ain't taking this no more, if I end up checking out and going on the big ride in the sky because of it, well so be it.

Well, damn A.J. - I don't think your family, nor we, wanna lose ya, Bud. Maybe take them pills with some ice cream and caviar, or some chocolate and rhubarb; they'll make ya forget about the headache!!! Or better yet, make your cardi take the same pills and then hear what he yells!!!

Serious - stick around. :)

Geez
I was put on tablets that made me feel like I was ganna murder anyone that even looked at me the wrong way. Problem is, they saved my life (well the other problem was the doc never warned me about the side effects).
So long as the doctor is right - you trust him, and you been given the right tablets. FFS TAKE THEM!
Some side effects do calm down with time and sometimes the doc can give you something that can ease the unwanted effects.
Hey, look on the bright side - in the '60s you would have paid a fortune for that hangover!

Ok gunny. go for a second opinion. Also ask your Dr. if there is any other medication that will assist in what the goal is. You can also find a good homeopathic Dr. I know of several natural pathic drugs that work well without any side effects. They reduce colesterol and triglycerides, another reduces blood pressure.

Gunny, I commend you for having the courage to live life on your terms. And yes, we all might be going for the big ride sooner than we expect. But, as long as we begin our ride as men of courage, honor will be with us and we ride in peace. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Gunny,
Definitely talk with your regular Dr and tell him your problems with these meds. Dont take something you dont want to take...You may have to find a smarter cardiologist or you may find that this one knows his game and needs to justify his methods too you.
Best Wishes
