How about UPS/FedEx party and socializing clothes to & from CCR. That's what I plan on doing.

Hey Rod - like Ramon sez; Brown truck it both wayz. I pack the bike for the riding trip only and ship the rest. A day-ride trip is eazy, butt if it's an overnighter, then I'm a leetle more cautious about what I carry (usually a complete change of clothes along with toiletries, etc), versus what is sent.
IIRC, since Santa Fe CCR, we've alwayz set up a procedure with the hotel so that they will accept packages during the two week window prior to the start of CCR. They'll sign for the package at arrival and store them in a secure place in the hotel. When an attendee arrives, arrangements are made to retrieve the package; either thru the hotel staff, or by a trip to the holding cage to take possession - using proper id of course. Hotels do handle the procedure somewhat differently - for ex. at Gatlinburg, the hotel didn't charge for package handling. In Breckenridge, they attempted to, butt we discouraged that and they pretty much honored the request. In Breckenridge, an arrivee would tell the hotel staff that a package had been sent and the staff would retrieve the package and bring it to the lobby for id. Usually, these matters will be ironed out in advance by the CCR volunteer crew, who will also make arrangements with the local UPS office to have a representative on-site the main day of our departure, with plenty of supplies and manpower to handle the traffic. They also post the shipping rates (and I forget whether you pay by cc or cash - may be dependent on their having a swiper on hand, or change-making services).
Another benefit of traveling this way, Rod, is that you can also ship your event purchases back home - such as items you may win at the silent auction; souvenirs and gifts that you may buy locally, etc.
So - that has been my experience for three CCRs that required overnight travel both ways. Very eazy and no worries. (I did hear that CCR '05 had a leetle problem with the local Jackson Lake UPS shop, in that they weren't prepared for the volume of bidness we gave 'em and some packages went back home the 'scenic route'; I'm sure the volunteer crew this year will alert the local UPS crew of our expectations in service).
More than you wanted, Rod?? Prolly so - butt the main thang is: arrive, enjoy, have fun, ride safe, make new friends. And be sure and stay for the Friday evening banquet - good food, lotsa entertainment, door prizes, silent auction results, *beeg* announcement as to where CCR '07 is gonna be held --- don't tell anyone, butt Grif keeps askin' how to spell Omaha. Dang, I gotz the urge to saddle up!!! :D

A lot of attendees ship clothes ahead and then ship them home, especially those traveling two-up. We always (and will again this year) have a UPS shipper set up in the vendor area to accept and ship your gear home at the end of the event, which often requires a larger box than what was needed when coming in, due to the purchase of and planned addition of extra farkles on your LT. As an alternative, or supplement, the weather proof bags and travel gear designed by Helen Two-Wheels is exceptionally fine and her bag attachments make it easy to festoon the LT with luggage to the point that the moto, and occasionally the passenger, is largely obscured.

Oh, the feller knew and at the last second had to be coerced and cattle prodded just to show up. It was, indeed, a fi-yi-yi-yie-asco that was blamed on the labor stitch-a-tation in Jackson. We've never before had to show up at the UPS store strapped to get what we want:rolleyes:
How do you spell Omaha? Picture this, tables under the stars, an earthy aroma, picking your steak out of the herd just on the other side of the fence....

A UPS Store is located in the shopping area just across from the entrance to the Chateau Elan. Easy to get to, for shipping things out early.

Here's a checklist, and reference to several others regarding motorcycle touring and camping. Perhaps they will be helpful.

I saw this thread and it brought up one other question. Dress requirement for some of the restaurants and banquet on Friday. Does anyone know of they have a jacket or tie requirement or is this pretty much a business casual for this elegant affair?
The wife saw this thread and I could see the wheels turning
TIA,
Phil

I'm gonna ride down with the minimum of gear/clothes. That way, I'll HAVE to buy stuff while I'm there.
