I had decided that I like the LT too much to sell it anyway and was just going to bite the bullet if I had togo to Louisville

I also heard the same thing and hope it's true. Don't really want to ride to Columbus or Louisville for service or just to shop for accessories.

I spoke with service tech in Louisville and he siad if I make an appt for a repair or small service and I get there early then I can wait on the bike but for something like a 12,000 then I am just going to spend the night. Cloumbus is 40 miles further each way for me so it is Louisville. I have been to the store but don't know a thing about the shop in Louisville. Let's hope we get a good one back in Cincy or better yet Northern Ky.

Hi Guys, This was just posted on the Cleveland BMW Club Site about tri-state. Bob is the president of the RA and a BMWMOC club member. Looks like this dealership has been saved.

after closing at the end of last year.

Our service and repair facility, staffed by BMW factory trained and

We stock and retail routine service items, like oil filters, crush
washers, etc. for those that choose to "do it yourself" (DIY).
Miami Cycle Works is offering a discounted introductory labor rate to
those that schedule work before our grand opening!!!!!

Hi Guys, SORRY for spreading this. Following correspondence showed up today. Anybody got a towel? The egg's a little thick on my face.

Bobs' letter to the Cleveland BMW club:
Sorry, but this is not what it originally seemed to be!
Miami Cycle Works will not be taking over the Tri-State facility and
will not be a franchised BMW dealer!
They will probably have availability to BMW parts, but that is all --
for now. They will not even be able to sell used bikes at first and
primarily focus on servicing. Sorry to have started this rumor, but from
the posts I was reading it sounded like they were referring to the
Tri-State facility. A poor assumption on my part.
After all my years on the Internet you would think I would know better
than to believe anything I read here!

(Bob's letter to RA Group)
Hi Neil,
Thank you for clarifying this and letting me know I have mis-informed
the RA-Ohio eGroup.
As I read all the previous posts on the GCBMWC eGroup it seemed like
some of the group had postured itself to take the old Tri-State location
over. It is rumored that BMW M/C's of Columbus will actually be doing
this and very soon, but in keeping with the speed of how Motorrad USA
moves this may or may not occur in a timely manner. I was shocked to
read about the opening of Miami Cycle and I put it together with the
closing of Tri-State. I realize the error of deduction and will
certainly make that clear to those I told differently.
Thanks again for writing me so I can graciously wipe the egg off my face
before this rumor got too far out of hand. :-[

I drove by a few times as well - nothing observable! The front page to their website is down but you can get to the other back pages easily. Everything in sort of suspended animation . . .
So lets see building and many contents still in tact, website still around, hmmm . . .
Now if I was investing in a franchise I guess some time between now and say May would be a good time. There might be a strategy to let the local market start to build and then reopen with a bang - assuming there are advantages for all in stacking up demand.
Way too much speculation on my part . . . lucky for me I do all my own maintenance. No so lucky for others . . .

I replied just moments ago to the same question (status of Tri-State) on another thread. Their service manager was the service manager for BMW of Columbus for 3 months; quit last week to take a General Manager job at a Harley shop in Dayton, according to one of the guys at BMW of Columbus.
The former Tri-State service manager suggested to me that they would be re-opening after some personal issues (owner's) were settled.

I have been calling their number for the past few months and just got the answering machine until last Monday 3/27. Bill the owner answered much to my surprise and said they were still opened. I said what are you talking about the dealership is closed and you can't get service, in which he admitted that he was the only employee. I asked him if he was trying to sell the business and he said yes. I asked him the timetable and he said he thought it would be sooner than later but couldn't go into specifics. He said the new owners would contact all customers.
I don't know if I trust him however he did answer the phone.

He said the new owners would contact all customers...This jives with what his former service manager told me recently. Essentially, "doors are closed for now, but will reopen under new ownership".

Very interesting, I spoke to Jeff (service manager) just last week to see if he had any information on Tristate

I actually called the dealership a week ago and someone answered. They indicated they were "sort of" closed--some parts, clothing, and bikes for sale but no service dept. He said they were in the process of trying to sell, and had also entertained an offer that week. He didn't give me a time frame for the sale. Bummer..........

I've been buy there 3 times in the last week and all the bikes are gone and haven't seen anybody (Bill) inside.

this does not necessarily mean they will be a dealership. Only that they are moving into the old BMW building because they had out grown their existing facility. They still are unable to do warranty work (at this point in time). I will say that Oscar runs a fine shop with quality and customer service being his priority. I have had several bikes worked on their and have been very pleased.

Marc,
Did not mean to imply anything - maybe my caption should have been "???". In any case it will interesting to see what transpires - hopefully good things from Miami Cycle Works.
For the life of me I cannot believe that Cincinnati and St. Louis are sitting without an official BMW motorcycle dealership and BMW USA still lists BMW Tristate as still active in their search engines and download PDF for dealers.
I understand business is tough and tight and their business model is based on independent enthusiasts meeting their franchise requirements but what about their installed base and what they are trying to do for their current and future customers. Where is the mothership!!! Silence is not golden . . .
My 2 cents . . .

I just had an incident with my rear brake rotor and it would be 400 miles for 2 trips to get my bike worked on under warranty. It really sucks. However, thanks to Oscar at Miami Cycle Works I did not need to make the trip. let's hope for the best and that something is going to happen. I almost sold my BMW when Cincy went out of business but am glad I kept it. Best bike I have ever ridden and just do not get excited about a GW. But then again I haven't ridden one yet either.

Needed the front Bridgestone tire replaced so I decided to visit the former BMW Tristate. Got that taken care of.
Talked to Oscar and staff . . . looks like they are going to be up and coming. Apparently the building people made him a great deal - he seems excited and the walk in traffic and location seem to be providing them with lots of opportunities. You know what they say about location!!!
I will visit more in the future and give my business to them to see if they can make a go of it. They are not exclusive BMW as they are mostly parts and service. Maybe bikes in the future!!
Take a look: http://www.bmwtristate.com/
Wish the best for these guys . . .
