When I worked for Chrysler Engineering in Huntsville, I had the Ladies on the Test lines convinced that electronics worked via smoke exchange and that if they let the smoke out of a component under test they needed to mark the ticket to indicate it.
We used TDK mass-insertion machines to stuff the boards with components then all were wave soldered on the way to the test lines.
If one of the Tape-Apes loaded a roll of components back-wards, such as electrolytic capacitors, the caps would blow during power up of the unit, letting out a loud pop and the magic smoke.
They were pissed when I let em' off the hook but we all had a good laugh, eventually.
I pulled one other on them.
50 - 60 Women on a line, seated on both sides of the line with wooded benches with the test frames mounted.
Came in about an hour before the day shift with several cans of sardines, and stapled one or two under the wooden benches of the line and sat back and watched them turn on each other as the plant heated up and the smell drifted from under the line.
They were all talking about each other needing to wash their asses and getting pretty rude with it.
I didn't dare let them in on it and I removed the smellies the next morning.
