As you may know, I'm having problems with my ice-link. So far got no awnser from Dension, but since atps1234 got it working, I start wondering something:
what is the version number on yours ice-link device?
Not the BlitzSafe box, but the ice-link device (that long plastic wrapped connector.
My is V1.2
Could it be the problem?

Thank you

Hello,

I took a look during lunchtime today and the only markings on my Ice>Link Plus unit was a sticker on top (meaning the "less flat" side) reading "I20-BMW". Nothing on the bottom (flat) side.

Hope this helps,
Bob

I'm fumbling through the ipod/ice link setup process right now myself. I think I got it right, just before I headed off to work. I'll offer any input I can. My ice-link plus had version 2.06 when I started. It is now updated to the suggested version, whatever that was.

So far my biggest hurdle has been learning which radio control buttons to press when and following the Dension update procedure exactly, without any of my own usual shortcuts.

I'll recheck this post when I get home and answer any questions I can, including info on the ice link - however, I think mine just says BMW-I20-T also.

Joe's older post on the update file, text, Dension's "how to update", and menu structure pdf's are the most critical items to get it all working.

OK. Home now. FWIW the data plate on my Ice link shows v2.02 and it is an I20-BMW-T, the trunk model. Mine also is used, purchased on this site. As Bob mentioned in another post the version of the Ice Link software is actually on the right hand side of the warning screen, the screen after the Dension splash screen.

If you talked with Joe I'm sure he pointed you in the correct direction for proper ice link update. Your stated method would not be correct according to Dension. Also, I'm not so sure the ICEV22.B2 update will update any version older than 2.05. You may need an intermediate update to get to the 2.05 level. Dension would probably have to answer that question.

To summarize, my ice link software version was 2.06 and did not match the data plate version of 2.02. Probably just a production update.

I have the Dension firmware update instructions and manual if you need them.

Good Luck,

Well, forget everything I said. The Ipod/Ice link were working just fine and then all of my radio controls just quit functioning. Disconnected ice link and no joy. Doing a battery reset now.

In the mean time, talked to a guy at Dension and he simply stated that my hardware version 2.02 WILL fail with the latest firmware upgrade. They'll send me a replacement unit if I can provide proof of purchase. I bought the unit 2nd hand so not sure I'll have success there.

Just more information for you ipoders out there.

John,
Like you I also bought a second hand unit.
There is 2 ways to deal:
you send your unit and they will send a new one
You pay(via CC) with a new unit, they will send it, you send your. When they receive your, they will refund the CC

I will pick up my personal (I live close by) and try to install it tomorrow
I will post here.

Thanks Elton,

The radio is OK again after the reset. Also the ipod/ice link still works fine. It's possible that I was just sending too many commands for the processor to handle at one time(ie-pressing buttons too fast). Regardless, based on what the Dension guy said, I am going to pursue a newer model.

Thanks again for the info
