Today's Woot! (http://www.woot.com/Blog/ViewEntry.aspx?Id=6381) is a cheap ($90) 8MP point and shoot digital camera that looks like it might work out OK for someone who wants a camera you could use from the saddle.
Reason I suggest it for shooting from the saddle: No optical viewfinder, but with a helmet on who cares. Decent wide angle (36mm equivalent), digital ISO and decent autofocus.
It's not nearly as nice as the Canon IS870 which I use, but it's a quarter the price! Cheap enough that you don't need to worry about dropping it. :)

I guess I fell kind of stupid, decide that this looks like something I can work with. When to "Woot.com" BUT I CAN"T FIND THE BUY BUTTON???

Right. And the Woot! site is a little bit annoying, when you link to a blog page (like I did), you actually need to switch to the "Today's Woot!" page in order to buy whatever the Woot! of the day is, assuming they're not sold out.
Don't worry though, they recycle items fairly regularly, at least the ones that don't sell out. So maybe it'll come around again.
There are also occasionally Woot!-off's, where they host multiple items (usually dozens) in the same day, each one listed only until it sells out. Those can be fun... I've never bought anything at a Woot-off, but they're fun to watch.

Well at least I don't feel stupid (well not more that normal)

Bob!
Woot is a great site. Today they have a Pentax 8mp digital up now. They had several cycle through on the woot off last week. If anyone has not gone to woot... make it a regular stop, some great deals from time to time, you have no idea what you really don't need but will buy and love!
