Now, the real fascinating story here is the new double yellow lines painted on the road about a half a mile from here (didn't have enough left to walk that far), both sides of the road are just crumbling apart, and not enough room on either side of the newly painted lines for a normal sized car to fit. Wow! Have to work on some pics of that another day.

Then to top it all off, the road crew spent days digging up the street front property of each home, as a drainage ditch for the water runoff, to save what is left of the roads!

Here in SE PA they milled several roads in my area and did a base coat. The big problem is they only milled and base coated a 3' wide section and not the whole road. I thought they were doing this before a finish top coat but here we are in November and several months have passed. This has left a road that gives motorcyclists and drivers fits. I suspect with the extremely high oil prices earlier in the year many state and local paving operations have simple run out of funds. Never the less if complete paving isn't going to be done it may be time to register a complaint with PENNDOT and my local congressmen.

Must be nice to live on a paved road?

I live on a county road that they won't maintain. If the people who live on this road hire a company to build it to county specs, including a bridge over the wash, and pave it, they county will then graciously maintain it.

I'd take the shit road for the location any time. Just let me know when you have finished packing, I should be done and ready to move in about 5 hours. Don't worry about shipping your bike, we can just exchange title, and all the electical stuff, leave that too, it won't work here anyway, wrong voltage.

Spoke to my boss, just so long as you have some computer skills, they will train you up into my job. By the way, what employment will I be moving too?

Sorry, I don't own any house (just visiting, going on 14 yrs now), and what we have is nothing like those in the pics. We live in a modular built as a second home by an old woman who thought her kids would move here, in case of any type of disaster situation. That did not happen and she needed to sell it. It was one hell of a mess when we got it. Still working on it.

All I own is a 97 Ford Van that gets 12 mpg. She owns the lion's share of the 99LT purchased last November, which cost us over $12k, and a lot of sweat equity. We got the bike, because she wanted one. Now nine months after a serious head injury, she has rarely been on it.

Cancer rates are so high in this area, you would not want to consider living here.

Unless someone offers an efficiency for rent for around $250/mo (I am interested), I am stuck where I am living on a very meager disability income, which started from my cancer diagnosis in 99, and have never recovered. Yup, looks good from the other side of the pond as they say.

Just found out the Federal toxic super fund clean up site just a few miles down the road in Palmerton, Pa., which has been going on 24/7 for as long as I have been here, is not taking stuff out - but bringing it in! They have used that area for footage of bombed out landscape areas in war movies, just to give you an idea what that looks like. There was a guy here the other day said he worked there one day, and the waste nearly ate the bottom of his shoes off.

Twenty nine cases of cancer (including pets, and four neighbors dead), all but one person diagnosed with cancer in eight adjoining homes.....this is not where you would like to be.

But, back to my original post, the roads SUCK! Once you get about three miles from here and onto a State road, its not so bad. If I were to vent any more, I would raise my acid levels to a point I might not be able to ride the LT later this week.

Here are a couple more pics of the newly painted, sure as the sun shines, crumbling apart road, and a few pics where I stay, which is one of the first homes built in the area some 25 yrs ago. Only wish I had a pic to show what it looked like when we move in. YIKES!~
