Kari and I went to Cambria and Solvang, CA, for part of the holiday break. There is a motorcycle museum in Solvang, the owner of which displays part of his private collection of bikes there. It's very cool because there are no ropes, chains, barriers, etc., you can get up close and personal with some rare, old and historic bikes. A recent addition to his collection is the last of 10 Britten V1000 bikes ever made, and it's there in the museum! Click the link below to check out some of the pictures I took while there. If you're ever in the area go check it out, it will be the best $5 you'll ever spend (that's right, it's only $5 to get in  )!
Enjoy!

Nice pics and layout. Thanks! Nice selection of bikes and as you say, a very intimate display. Its been added to the long list of things to see when we get out there...sigh!

Thanks for the report, David. I've never been (even though it's just over an hour away), but I've been meaning to get a SoCal group ride together.
I didn't realize he had a Britten on display. Now I really wanna go. :)
Hm, that may be a good day ride for the Cambria trip, so some of you NorCal folks can see it, too.

I was thinking that would be a nice stop-over at least for folks coming to Cambria from the south. IIRC it's open from 11-6 on Sat and Sun; you can call to confirm that.
And the Britten is SO FREAKIN' COOL in person. There may still be some drool marks on it from me when you get there. It's a truly amazing bike considering how it came to be and how good it is/was.

For those of you who choose to ride to the Barber Museum near Birmingham, AL while attending CCR this year, Mr. Barber has a beautiful Britten on display among the 500+ bikes in his viewable collection.

I got to spend awhile in the Solvang museum closely checking out all the exotic bikes in there. It's quite an amazing collection. The owner was there, and let a couple of us in the back room where he had two bikes under going minor restoration. The place is a must see! One can only imagine what his full collection must contain!
