I just got this used ice link and today I'm trying to install it.
Got the 2b2 from Joe 'Messager13', unzip it and transfer it to my ipod.
I notice that on the iPode, the files have a long number instead of the names like
upd_0001.mp3
upd_0002.mp3
it's more like _00503355504433215...
Then question number 1: is it right?
Before doing the update I connect the Ice link and try it.
The music sound is really bad. Looks like the volume is too high on the iPod, so it's overcharging the BMW Comm system, so the music sounds distorced. The high pitch sounds realy hurst your ears.
I try to control the volume from the ipod, but makes no difference.
Then question number 2: is it right you cannot control the volume from the ipod?
Still before I try to update I change it to CD6 and used the controls to skip music. It worked well, but the sound still terrible.
I try to see the version of my Ice-link. Could not.
The label on the back of the ice link is removed exacly were it should tell me the ice-link version. I can only read 'BMW...' noting else.
Then question number 3: How can I find out the version of my ice link?
Now I try the update.
I scroll the iPod, found the 'Start_update.mp3' (which is not that name I see on ipod, is more like "Start_update 012949332093... " and then I play it, pause it, rewind it, connect to ice-link, play it.
It plays only that 'music', for about 40 seconds and stops.
Then question number 4: what I'm doing wrong???
Also, I remmeber reading a thread when someone (I guess was Joe), wrote that you need to do some changes on the 'charging time' on iPod. (like 120 seconds???) but I could not find that thread any more.
Then question number 5:
Is there any one who can tell me how to deal with the charging issue?
Finally, when I had only the Blitz Safe installed on my bike (only the BS box, not the ice-link device), I realized that the BlitzSafe uses battery energy all the time. Even when the bike is parked with the key on 'OFF'. And I had run out of battery couple times until I decide to install a switch on the Power cable (cut the Red/Blue wire, installed the switch in between, so I can shutoff the power before the Blitz Safe.)
Now, I removed all and restored the connection directly, (Don't ask me why I did it. At that moment was a great idea). So before I run out of battery again, let me ask: is the Ice Link 'On' all the time too? If you park your bike for a couple weeks is the battery run down?
Thank you for all who can help me on that
and Sorry that I made it too long.
