Bushtec Trailer hitch

I just purchased a used hitch for my 1999 LT. It did not come with mounting or wiring instructions. I contacted Bushtec and did not get any help.

Does anyone have this information that they are willing to share? I can probably mount it, but the wiring will be a greater choir.

I just wired my 2000 LT for my uni-go trailer.
The Isolation relay kit came with the trailer, but is a company independant from Uni-go. Here is the web site. http://www.electricalconnection.com/wire-harnesses/hrns-trailer.htm
I did not get the sub kit that is mentioned. Just cut off the connector end and wired it to the lights. I placed it under the trunk by the Emissions canister - I have not done the "canisterectomy" and ran the wires forward to the battery and down past the rear brake resevoir and under the Right side case.
Wasn't that hard to do.
Pretty basic trailer wiring.

I contacted Bushtec and did not get any help.
All the information you need is somewhere on this site and has been discussed many times over, I've personally posted wiring diagrams and instructions several times,
all you have to do is use the search function.

I know this is your first post here
but I am not too thrilled with the fact that you start it of with a negative statement about Bushtec.

I don't know all the variables of your contact with them,
but whenever I've called them for help they were very accomidating
John Preston the CEO talked with me for over thirty minutes and explained everything in detail.

Since you're new I'll sum it up for you,
you need an isolator relay as part of your wiring harness
(that's the most important part) and it will come with a diagram.
you can get one from either Bushtec or Dauntless around $60.

OK...it is a crude drawing, but you should be able to make the plate that mounts under the rear panel . Other than that, there are 2 bars that cross and bolt from the plate to the hitch. This plate is 3/16 flat steel.

I bought a used Bushtec trailer for my trip out west from a fellow rider on this very site. All my dealings with the seller have gone extremely well, and I have no qualms whatsoever about my business deal with Barry.

I called Bushtec four weeks before my trip and ordered a hitch for it. Since I live close by, they told me I could bring it in and they'd install the hitch, wire it up and all for $150.00. I asked them if they'd have it ready by October 3, and they said yes, it should only take three weeks to get the hitch ready. Gave them a credit card and phone number. Haven't heard anything from them since. We are now in Death Valley, and have made the trip sans trailer. I, for one, am NOT at all happy with the Bushtec folks. I've done a lot of business with his brother, Lewis, and have always been most pleased with his business, Electrical Connection, but the Bushtec guys fed me to the wolves on this one.

When I return from my trip in a couple of weeks I will call and cancel my order with Bushtec and order from someone else (Hitch Doc, etc.). I can hear the incoming now "Why didn't you call them?". Honestly, when I spend $425 for a hitch and then plan on spending another $150 to have them install it, I really shouldn't have to beg someone to do business with them. And certainly shouldn't have to call to remind them that I need to know when my hitch is ready.

I am very much looking forward to being able to pull my Bushtec trailer, but I very seriously doubt that I'll ever do business with Bushtec again, in any manner.

they already told you that the hitch would be ready by (Oct 3rd)

I think it's reasonable to assume they expected you to be there (Oct 3rd) and have them install it.

You didn't show and didn't call, and they're at fault?
Normal thinking would be, since the product is paid for,
its also reasonable to assume you'll reschedule.

I don't think it's "their loss, with your attitude
I wouldn't want you for a customer either.

Now back on topic.... Man that relay "pack" is cool. I sure wish I had seen that when I wired my stuff up. I ended up getting 4 relays and wiring it up with those. I may end up getting one of those just for a little space savings-
