I just finished puting a whole main mire harness in my bike. I have come to a problem of a wire missing or in the wrong place. It is near battery compartment, there are 2 trminals that have nuts holding wires on, one is on right side of bike the other is near left side. I found a wire melted that did not get replaced. Does anyone have a diagram of this bike???? Year 2000 K1200LT I would greatly appreciate if you could email it to me, I want to finish this 2 day project today.... Thanks.....

Cannot be emailed easily. The electrical schematic book has fold out pages, which are pretty hard to use without referring to the German to English translations in the front of the book.

The book has sections for translation into several languages. You have to look at the schematic pages pertinent to what you are working on, then translate the notations by looking them up.

I sat down for a couple hours and wrote most of the translations onto the schematic pages.

There are also pictorial pages to help in identifying the harness connections, but they are not great.

I see another member posted a link for someone selling a book, best bet to get it if you can wait.

Any idea what wires go or come from the terminal???

Todd,

There is one that ties the starter feed lines (Red and Black wires from the stater relay and reverser relay) together and another one behind the battery that ties ground (brown) wires together. Those are the only two large terminals if I remember correctly.

Hi John,

Well, it did it again, this time much worse the starter solenoid fried togather and melted the harness to a point it needed to be replaced. I've been working on it all weekend.
Those are the terminals I'm talking about, the one with brown wires and black/yellow tracer I'm pretty sure I'm ok with. The other has a black wire I believe and the other was melted with no cover. The wire on there is running back to starter. What is the other wire that should be on there and where does it go???? Thanks, Todd

IIRC the black wire was coming from the starter relay and tied at that block to feed the cable going to the starter and there is also the wire (Black) from the reverser controller. Total of three black wires on that block. (checked the diagram).

would you happen to have a diagram or possibly a picture that I could follow, not sure where you are saying the wires should go. Thanks

The three black wires as follows:

One comes from the starter relay (the feed for the relay is red) and pops out of the harness near this tie point this is a 6.0 mm wire.

One goes to the starter motor (10.0mm) and the other one goes to the reverser controller(10.0mm to pin 45 on the controller).

They all are held together on a block with a stud and nut.

Well I just was having trouble looking at the correct diagram. The Black w/Yellow tracer is the wire that goes to the reverser unit. The tie point is behind the battery on the shifter side.

John, I'm sorry but I'm just not grasping whatyou are saying about the wires, onone terminalwith stud and nut, the one on brake side of bike I have brown and black and yellow tracer. The other on shifter side had two wires I think but have no idea where they came from. Did they come from harness? Or are they wires on their own? Is it possible to send a diagram or picture? Thanks again...

The one on the brake side should only have brown wires. The heavy black with Yellow tracer should be on the shifter side block with the two large black wires. I'll go see if I can get a good picture of it. But mine is an 05 and has a relay between the two blocks. I'll be right back.

The upper (shifter side) block here has an insulating cover over the post and two black wire on top. The black /yellow is attached on the underside. I believe it is looped back in this picture as the reverser controller is on the brake side.

The lower block has nothing but brown wires on it (except for the two black wires I added for my power taps).

Hope this helps

If you do nothing else - disconnect the black w/yellow from the brown wires as that will melt down your reverser controller if you try to reverse with it hooked up to ground.
