Hi, so does this mean I can finally see text on an 05 LT after having purchased two! of your units? If I purchase a third ie DICE? Will I know what/see which particular track it is? Not before time if so. Paul

I do apologize. The 2005 for some strange reason will not support the text. I took this question to my techs to ask them, and they informed me that the 2005 has a limitation of not displaying text information

Yes our i-BMW-T kit does support the BMW LTs as well. It will replace your 6 disc changer on your bike. The kit is $159.99. If I can get some people interested here I can see if I can work a group buy for everyone. The handle bars will control it just as you control your 6 disc changer. Also a great advantage with our kit is that you will have text display on your radio display on your radio as well.

For those that are interested in a group buy PM me and I can see what I can get going for you.

I have a '99 LT. Do you have a solution for that year?

Thanks -

Does it work with the 2008 LT? How about the 3G iPhone?

Just bought a used Dice from another member who gave up his bike.
I believe it works great but after I let it sit over night I lost power to battery
I called tech support and they say it only draws 3 milli amps however I will run another test.

Please note the iTouch was not even connected . . . another mystery to research.

Also the wiring harness they send you is like 15' long - what the !!!

Any other Dice users experience this issue!!

Oh yea the iTouch works great when connected

Have one installed and have to agree with the voltage draw, although it does say it should switch off after a set time. Best solution is to cut the power feed with a switch. At best the interface is rather "clunky" not intuitive, but it does display titles etc. Just don't loose the instructions !!! +1 on the wiring loom length, we know its set up for cars, but just maybe you could run a batch for our bikes, maybe only 30 -40 inches would be great.
Other wise a good addition to my bike. Cheers

Is there any solution on the horizon? I assume this is true not just for the 2005 but also 2006+?
Any chance you would be offering a minimal wiring harness for those that don't have the changer option?

Thanks,

Thanks,The problem exists for all LTs since 2005, where the radio display is in the instrument cluster. I won't presume to speak for Dice's engineers, but I am certain the problem is in the bike. The Dice unit works fine in the cars (I have one) and the pre 2005 LTs, because they use a matrix 8 (or 16 in some autos) character display. For some reason BMW used a display sub controller in the instrument cluster of the newer LTs that interprets the serial data differently for display.

I am sorry but out kit starts with the 2000.

The only other solution that I have would be an FMRDS kit. It is hardwired into the antenna cables. It will be wired directly into the ground, 12v and ignition wire of the bike. If the radio on the bike supports RDS information when you have a FM radio station on it will support text as well. On this unit you will have to control everything from the iPod.

Yes the kit will work on the 2008 bikes as well. The 3g iPods and iPhones, will work just the way that anyother iPod works. However where apple did a new charging system, we are working on our kit and are hopeing that we will be able to ship soon.(No exact ETA at this time) I will keep everyone updated about this.

When we made this kit it was built in mind for the BMW cars and SUV's, that is why the cable is 15 feet. On the vehicles it does have to run from the back of the cars to the front.

The iTouch should just work fine other then chargeing, that is something that we are working on right now.

Thanks,

There is something different on the 2005. It is like there is a diffent firmware or software on the radio in 2005. The 2006 and up works fine.

Thanks for coming on-board as site sponsors!

I've also been looking at a DICE unit for awhile, and am glad some of the long-standing issues have been cleared up. Two quick questions:

1. iPhone 3G compatibility?

2. The comments above were vague about how/when the unit powers down. Could you clear that up?

Thanks,

Glad to be here.

1. The kit will work with the 3g iPhone iPods just like it does with any other iPod out there. However, Apple did change the charging system in the newer iPods and iPhone. It is something that is already being worked on. I have spoke with the engineers that are working on that and they told me that we should have the solution done and ready in a few weeks. As for the phone well that would need to be done through Bluetooth.

2. The DICE interface was desighned around the BMW cars. The cars have a constant draw on the battery already. The DICE kit will not have a draw when the iPod is disconected. If the iPod is hooked up it could have a small draw just to keep memory going. Just how your cars work. There is a small current draw for the cars radio to keep your clock and preset station programed.

Hi Travis,

Welcome aboard as a sponser. I was one of the lucky ones that was able to buy one at a bargain price at the 2007 CCR Silent Auction. Thanks much for supporting this organizations benefit for charity by donating those units.

I really enjoy the unit on my 2003 LT. The only problem I have is that I manage to get it into a mode sometimes where it will not display the text or where I cannot get it to change tracks. I know its a matter of getting it to the correct setting, but the instructions that are provided leave a lot to be desired since they were written for car use. By trial and error I usually get it back to the correct setting, but hesitate to mess around trying to change playlists for fear I'll get it into a wrong set up mode.

Any chance your people could come up with a simplified set of operational directions specifically for the LT referencing its display and controls? And also a troubleshooting guide for getting it back to the correct settings?

Sure would be helpful.

Thanks, Carl

Sorry Travis, I missed out on your group buy. I went ahead and ordered your Dice HD unit. I just finished reading the packaged instructions...for a car. Where, on an LT, am I going to put this antenna.
Vertical is best it says (no ground up there) and horizontal leads to a curved antenna installation. I'm not sure that would work either. Where would you suggest, for the best reception with the cleanest look? (Maybe an upside down install...?)
p.s. I have the Cee Baileys windscreen with wings, plenty of room for a horizontal install. (would not be pretty, thou):
Thx
