Hei

We are planning an trip to US from Finland for next August to drive all around for 3-4 weeks.

While looking into renting a bike there seems to be very little choices around BMW and even less for renting a LT.

Does anybody have any insight on where this might be possible?

Found this far only one place, they have not yet replied back to me on this.

Idea is that we start somewhere on East Coast and drive through to West Coast while cruising between north and south. And as we both are Iron Butt Riders, mileage will be huge so unlimited mileage is absolute requirement. We plan to drive +12 000 miles during these days...

Other option is to fly our own bikes over, but in that case it will make our driving days a bit shorter as the flight as some 48 hour delays on it. Would much rather spend this time On the Road!

This is the ONLY dealer in this area I am aware of that rents bikes. We rented for the weekend, cost about $400.

We then bought a BMW and have our 99LT with 47k for sale, should that be of interest. Only damage is a broken trunk handle. Stays secure with velcro strap.

You could sell it when you leave. It is ready to ride, from other posts I've read, you should get another 7-9k out of the tires, would only need oil changes. PM if interested. NE Pa.

I know that Eaglerider rents LTs out here in California.

If you buy a bike here in the US, you may run into problems trying to register it and get insurance.

I was in contact with them, but the answer was that for 2009 there will be no LT's available... GS is the closest option on BMW fleet...

Try MC Tours in Scottsdale, Arizona. They have BMWs (I think a few LTs but plenty of RTs and GS). Great riding out there, but you should wait until mid-late September for a bit cooler weather. We were just there for a week in late september. Fabulous!!! Great service, nice people. Here is a link:

You should try to attend the Curve Cowboy Reunion the last of August, First week of September. It's located here. Clicky (http://www.curvecowboyreunion.com/CCR2009/index.php)

There will be other folks from Finland there as well. See who. (http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42824)
