Anyone with a radio installed on the 2008 RT know if there is an Aux outlet for this installation? I don't even see a headset outlet for this radio --- only dash speakers. My installation is not complete or operational b/c the remote unit with ESA component was not ordered properly. I have no manual yet. A very long story. Meanwhile I am studying the present components as currently installed.

My '08 RT factory radio setup came with a male 1/8" stereo input cable pre-installed. It goes to the connector on the bottom of the radio. I know from my LT experience that you can get a cable to do the same thing if you don't have the cable. One thing though, the sensitivity of this input is fairly low, meaning you have to set the factory radio to full sensitivity (P6) to get decent volume from say an iPod earphone outlet. It works though. I plug it into my Zumo for audio input into the stereo system.

DW,
If you are looking for a headset connection, there is a cord that comes with the BMW/JM CB Intercom. There are four wires that need to be plugged in to the rear of the cd unit. This will provide audio out to the headset cable.

So are you saying I can drive my NANO through the ZUMO to the external speakers? And, I have to (I guess) get under the bike to see the stereo outjack below the radio? Obviously I could do the FM wireless gig but that is not ideal for me. Ah, audio is not one of BMW's best features from my HD integrated experience. Just an opinion.

Thanks for the responses.

DW,
I thought that you were looking to get your radio hooked up to a headset. If you have the BMW/JM CB-Intercom, there is a cable that connects the audio output of the radio to the CB-Intercom headset.
I have the CB-Intercom and read the install manual. The cable connects to the rear speaker connection of the radio, for the headset. I don't know if you can fade the audio front to rear.
I don't know about piping an mp3 through a Zumo, but I know that you can connect the Zumo audio out to the Aux input of the radio. While in Aux mode, the audio from the Zumo will come out over the speakers. If you have audio on an SD card, you will hear it through the speakers. The same is true with XM Radio, if you have a generic Zumo since the BMW Zumo doesn't support XM.

This is helpful and I might have to go to some radio expert b/c my deal says there is no AUX input on the RT radio. I do not have a CB wire so that will not work. I have not determined if the Tech wired the ZUMO to the speakers ... I wont know that until the ESA component comes in to make the radio operational.

I might be messed up here without going to a Baer Comm unit. I need to find a good electrical guy in CT to help me figure this out. The Dealer is not helpful.
