Most would recommend a new tire (if you only have two, no sense in running on one with a plug). However, I must admit that, I've been running on a plugged rear tire for several thousand miles. It was almost new when I caught a nail, so I tried a plug and watched it very carefully for the next few months. The plug held perfectly, so, because I didn't have any long trips planned, I decided to run the plug as long as I could. Risky? Probably. Am I glad I did it. Yes.

Most on here would say replace it.

For me...new tire! It costs a lot more, but it's the only thing between my butt and the road. $150 does not even cover the deductible on my insurance if I come off at speed! Not to mention the pain and suffering. ;)

I just plugged my rear Metzler and ran to Utah and back from KC. No issues.

For some of us 4000 miles is the life of the tire...
I would replace it.

As hard as it is to get a plug into a m/c tire, I wouldn't worry about it coming out. I'd rather have a plug/patch from the inside but it's all up to you. I check my air once a week anyway...... :)

I've run three tires lately with plugs for several thousand miles. Never had a problem using vulcanizing plugs with a vulcanizing cement. I just wouldn't recommend taking them down to the wear bars.
I wouldn't do it with stop & go plugs though. I was able to push one of those out of the tire with the end of a ball point pen.

Went to Reno from Spokane and got a nail in the first 600 miles. Plugged it and watched it for the first 100 miles and forgot about it. Ran another 1400 miles before I got home with no problems. I wouldn't recommend it but it worked for me.
