I need a new rear tire for my 99 K1200LT. The tire on the bike now is a Metzler ME880 160/70 B17 M/C 79V. (I may be off on the 79V, I will check tonight). I called the local Honda shop and they said they could order the tire but also said their catalog had this note: Not for BMW K1200LT. Anyone know what is up with this. The tire on the bike came from a BMW dealer.

The tire must say "Reinforced" on it or it is not for the LT.
It will physically fit but it will be unsafe unless reinforced.

Hey Michael,

Steve gave you the right number (110-10448). If you look you can find a good deal. Steve posted an EBAY link recently and I order the $110.00 (delivered) Metz rear tire!

If you can't stomach the Metz prices, the Bridgestones have worked well for me.

Joe
