Hi,

New to the forum. I just got a 1998 R1100RT with only 186 miles on it. I love the ride, however, know nothing about this bike and don't have the user manual. Where can I obtain a manual? I would like to do as much as I can on the bike (oil and other fluid changes) and need some basic info.

ThanX, Yuval

I would get the Clymer manual for that bike if you're going to do you own service.

If it's TEN years old with less than 200 miles you need to change ALL the fluids. Engine, trans, FD and brake fluid. I would replace the tires too.

I would expect some leaky seals too after you've put a few hundred miles on it. Ten years is a long time for a bike to sit.

The original owner took the bike to a BMW dealer and they have done everything u have mentioned below.

ThanX for the advise.

Sounds like you're covered then. Get the Clymer, ride and enjoy:bmw:

+1. I have to wonder though, a 10 year old bike with less than 2 miles per month average... wow... wish you the best of luck.

Well, maybe only the odometer has 186 miles on it...

The story of this bike is - a relative bought it new in 1998 as an addition to two other bikes he had already. He has ridden it few time and at the end of the last ride he got a heart attack. So, he stopped riding and they parked the bike in the garage side by side next to the Harley and the Gold Wing. 5 months ago he passed away. The bike was sent by the widow to a BMW dealer to recondition it in order to sell it. Now, how do I load images here?
