That's all. Feel free to chime in if you feel the same way. If you feel your LT sucks and it has issues, there are other threads to vent on.

Everytime I get on it, I validate the decision I made to purchase it. When I walk away from it, I can't help but to look back at least once. When I twist the accelerator, I feel invigorated. The package fits me perfectly and no other motorcycle out there is the object of my desire. Rarely have I felt that way about a vehicle after a while. The honeymoon period usually wears off after a few months and I know that this will not happen with my LT.

Read first paragraph above one more time, and then discuss if applicable to you.

Do I hear an Amen? Yayuss!!!

I often say to my wife, "have I told you how much I love my LT?" She loves it too. After 10 years on the Connie (3 years of which we were looking for the next bike) we moved up. I knew it a couple years in advance when after sitting on Harleys, Hondas, Yamahas, Kawasakis, and RTs, she slid into the pillion of an LT and said "Ooooo this is nice!" Sweetest riding bike I've ever been on.

It's kind of hard to explain to someone who doesn't ride an LT, but mine was an acquired taste. Didn't really understand it at first, but the more I ride it the more enjoyable it becomes. My 02 only has about 36,000 miles so I can't wait till it's broken in....

Same here.

My black LT is just the best bike I have had. Previously had a 04GT and while that was a really fast and nice bike, the LT can not be beat. Most importantly, the wife road in it for 10 minutes and said - "we have to get one of these" - end of story. Am now in the process of putting a few farkels on it to make it even better.

Hey Dan, come on over and park yur 02 next to mine, maybe the miles will equalize between themhttp://www.bmwlt.com/forums/images/icons/icon10.gif that would put about 70k on eachhttp://www.bmwlt.com/forums/images/icons/icon10.gif

I feel pretty much the same way. I.e. I almost always look back at her. (She definitely looks best from the front view.) Love to ride her in almost all situations. Only complaints, it's easy to drag pegs, sidestand, center stand on tight turns, AND slow speed handling. But in general, I love this bike. and two up for trips, nothing can compare. Plus, I just love the looks of the LT. It's classy -- so classy BMW has made no appreciable changes to them in 9 years. It's one of the world's great tourning motorcycles. And I have found my 2000 LTC to be utterly reliable. Just passed 60,000 miles, of which I put on 23,000 -- over 13,000 since the end of May. Sweet machine.

I had to re-up on my Texas Tag Inspection and Registration today. The two guys doing the inspection would ask me a few questions about my LT, then punch in a few numbers, ask a few more, punch a few numbers...then go and get the manager and repeat all of the above to him, then go get the girlfriend behind the front desk and repeat yet again. Then they discovered that "R" and "F" meant "Reverse" and "Forward." That really got them going, so I demonstrated. I kind of felt like I needed to take the whole place down to the BMW dealer here in Fort Worth. They all waved "goodbye" to me. It definitely felt weird, but I got a renewed appreciation of the bike. She is a good one.

Yep. I had a Harley mechanic who had just repaired a broken front valve stem insist on coming out with me when he was finished so he could hear me start it and watch me drive off. He had never seen an LT and while he was working on it about five other mechanics were gathered around just checking it out.

Yup, I agree. After 35 years of riding metric bikes, I made the change. I've got an 03 LT. It is the single most incredible motorcycle that I have ever riden. I've told many people this. They just do not understand my shear enthusiusam about this machine. All I can say, is if you have never spent any time on this bike then you need to do so. Most of my friends sit on the bike and the size and weight just scares the h*ll out of them. The perfect motorcycle......

Not sure I want mine picking up any bad diseases or habits!

Oh by the way saw a guy last night who lives in New Port Richey, works at USF and rides the other BROWN LT who said he sees you from time to time on the highway. Now there are three ......

I love mine too! Really turns heads and for a touring bike gets pretty good mpg too. I had a Honda Pacific Coast (PC800) once and the LT is like its great big brother.

117k of the best ride of EVER ridden over 38 years. I usually get bored on some real great bikes after 2-3 years. After 6 it still amazes me how UNBORED I am. I just cant wait to get back on. All I can say Is WOW!!!!!!!!!

+1 on acquired taste.

It took almost a year and 13,000 miles, but we are good friends now.

I can not begin to explain how this bike keeps me in true awe when I ride it.

I ride purposely city at 6:00 every morning to practice city driving, stop and go, evasive maneuvers, and some times I get ALL the lights just right :D

It is a joy, but going home I get to go 8 lane and have a play bridge where EVERY day I do over a Ton across, slow down for the radar trap, then sail 75-80 and boy does she do her thing there too :bmw:

All things aside the nicest Touring motorcycle I have ever owned that makes me grin every time I ride it.

I also look back every morning at work to admire it.

There are those beemer diehards who claim a beemer steward who keeps his/her beemer clean is a poser... perhaps that is true for the majority of BMW machines in service to date (adding the volume of classics still running today with the those coming off the floor today).. but I've got to tell you....I've not done any long trips with mine since I got her in early August.. and still racked up over 4000 miles local riding...here there and everywhere.... but I feel compelled to do a "daily" on her.. and get her ready for the next ride... including wiping her down.. getting the grime off.. she's always looking in showroom condition.

... installed a new HID today... nice facelift... working through steps to install new GPS....

Greatest bike I've ever owned or ridden... What scares me is what BMW will TRY to replace it with.... I've got like another 30 years to ride.. don't think the LT will last quite that long.... therefore, make the best of today..

"Love" is a very powerful emotion... I can touch my wife's soul... but can't say I've found the LT soul, but I think it may be there (after all, it's German, like the Pope).

Same here. Best bike I've owned. I treat her good, she does the same to me. Not many BMW's here at work. Only a half dozen or so out of the 60 or so that park here at work each day. Mine is the only LT. A couple of days ago, someone had a LT Trike.

Awesome bike. Love it and Mama likes it. Happy wife.....

Most of my ridding is solo but for the few times that she does ride with me, she wants to enjoy it.

The bike fits me, it fits my wife and it talks to me. What does that mean.

I get on the bike and I become one with it. My feet go right to the pegs in the right spots, my hands can find the handlebars with out looking.

When I lost my last LT do to an accident my wife would only let me look at the LT. All other bikes didn't fit her or she didn't like. There was no question for her what bike would be bought.

How does a bike talk to you? well, the first time you kissed your wife did you get a feeling like she was the one, the first time you picked up a puppy and looked it in the eyes and it said take me home, or the first time you held your newborn child you new what unconditional love was, well, the LT was like that. The first time I sat on it I knew the bike fit. I knew my wife would like it and I would never be sorry for buying it.

Like a child, puppy or wife I can say the road isn't alway smooth but it is the journey that shapes you and how you handle the bumps along the way.

I love mine too. With my wife and I on the bike, i feel much safer than other bikes for control/braking. With both of us on the Virago, it was how do i say "not quite as safe/comfortable".

I love having a bike that rarely sees another one like it on any given day. I have received so many compliments on the bike it just becomes routine.

My bike is awesome. Thank you bike :)

You have 60 bikes that park at work. Does everyone ride for 3 months of summer in MN? It would be interesting to see that parade when that shift goes home.
COOL.

That's a great looking machine, Johnny.
Is that 2nd headlight standard on '09's?
I've got a Black '04 that still shines up nicely.
Are you happy with the new/improved sound system?

I was going to ask the same question, where do you work in Rochester that has 60 bikes?

As far as riding in MN goes, I have ridden every month for the last 3 years. The LT is a cool weather machine. Don't think I'd own one if I lived in the south. Would want something with more airflow to the rider.

But overall, it is by far the nicest bike I've ever ridden. Every time I ride it it just seems to get better.

I agree , I have put 17,000 miles on my 05 in less than a year . I get up in the morning & look forward to my 26 mile commute . In the winter time, as long as there is no snow or ice , I use the LT . My wife loves the back seat & to my amazement often say's let's go for a ride. We plan on riding the Niagara Falls parkway again this Saturday . It is a perfect ride on a sunny day . River to your right & Beautiful homes to your left . Slow speed handling aside , I can't see riding anything else '

Got "Sapphire" last May and have put on 10,000 miles on her! Wife and I just finished a two-week and 6,000 mile trip out west. She did great, er... both the wife and the LT that is... and I mean GREAT!

When I open up the garage and get ready to ride her, I still seem to go through some mental prep... that she is no regular mount... that if I do my job, she will do hers. Beyond the standard cycle riding stuff, if I do all those " basic LT things" like look where you want to go, stop with front wheel straight, don't overfill the fuel, etc. I am so-o rewarded with a highly capable mount.

I agree with you all here that the LT can stir the soul like few other machines do (well... flying a plane can REALLY stir too!). And, yeah... I look back at her after I park her. Geez...

And I thought I was the only one who loved their LT!! After a year of working on the house and not getting to go on a trip (two full summers) I am geting real grumpy, so the wife tells me go ride and don't come back until you can smile again! Might be gone for a few weeks, did i tell you I love my LT!
