The back light behind the gas gage has (I assume) burned out. How hard is this to replace? Can it be done by going up behind the fairing through the fork area or do I need to remove all the plastic? Couldn't seem to find a description of the bulb. Does anyone know what is needed?
Thanks!

You go in from the top. I can't remember all the steps, but you need to get the top dash cover off, which does not require removal of the nose cone. I put red led's in all my dash lights while I was in there. I'll see if I posted the any steps.
I long pair of needle nose pliers or hemostats are very useful for removing the the rubber grommeted light socket from the instrument cluster.
It only took about 2 hours to replace all of the lights.

you can probably get to it by taking off the windshield and dash, then you should be able to get it with a pair of needle nose pliers.

I just had my windsheild and outside dash cover off to move my GPS cables to come out the map light. I wish I would have looked then. Let me know if I can give you a hand.

When pulling the dash cover don't forget the screw behind the map light...

Thanks Guys. Mike, I may take you up on your offer. Haven't had the dash off yet and might be nice to have someone help who's had it apart. You going to the clambake this weekend?
Red LED's sound pretty cool. Where would I get these?

I knew you were going to ask that. Let me take a look and get back to you. Also, someone questioned putting an LED in the charging warning light. I didn't replace any of those.
I got 'em on Ebay somewhere. T5 is the the LED bulb type. Some LED's are supposed to not fit the socket exactly right etc. All I can say is these have been in for 1 year and fit and work perfect. Do an Ebay search for red T5 led.

Alas no clambake weekend for me as I didn't plan for that. I do have Friday off. My only plans, I'll be taking the bike to Sils for tires in the morning.

Any luck on tracking them down John? Did a Google search and came up with some @ 10 for $5.99, but not sure if they will fit right based on your comments.
Thanks,
Carl

Hey Mike,
Want to change to RED?! Could do a dual project on both bikes if you're interested. Just need to make sure of which bulb to buy.
Hey, you really should try the clambake sometime. Really good time. If your not into camping there are some delux cabins with their own bathrooms and mini-kitchens. A little expensive, but if your comfortable with sharing with another couple you know, it eases the impact on the wallet.
Also if you want to save money on tires, order them online and have them installed at Cleveland-Akron Honda on Broadway. No hassle there on installing tires bought on the internet. They did both of mine while I waited. I think it was $20 for each tire if you de-mount and bring them in.
