My RT has 1,800 miles and the computer says I average about 44.3. I do a lot of 70-75 miles per hour driving. I Would be interested in any replies. Thank you in advance.

I reset mine at every fill up.

Commuting (65-70mph for about 15 miles) I get 50mpg.

Riding the twisties with high rpm, I've had it get down to 42mpg.

'07 RT with 7k miles. I get between 42 and 50mpg depending on type of travel. I would say an overall average would be right about 45 mpg.

My '08 has about 1200 miles. According to the average mpg on the dash, by first tank was 51.1, the second was 49.0, and the third 51.0.

My 08 14000 miles and I get about 300 miles to a tank with holes drilled in the filler neck.

I get a consistent fifty to fifty two on trips from tank to tank and running around atlanta I get about forty eight from tank to tank, and I too reset with each fillup to determine what I do right and or wrong to acheive the best results. It has been that way from the get go and I'm not using near as much if any Oil between changes which shocked me. I doubt I've used a fifth of a quart so far at three thousand miles.

I commute 70 miles round trip a day at 65 mph (cruise control on) at about 57 mpg calculated from the trip meter. :thumb: I live in the Willamette Valley up here so it's pretty straight and level riding to and from work. The weekend riding (twisties, pouring on the coals in the Cascades) the mileage can definitly drop...

It seams to me the computer reads about 2-3 mpg lower then what the actual performance is doing. I also notice that according to the computer on the cold mornings I get a poorer fuel economy then on the hot afternoon drive home. I have no idea why it reads that different.

'08 RT W/5000 miles. I average 47 mpg overall using the computer readout but actual manually calculated mileage is 45.5.
As a side note, while up in Or., Wa. Id. and Montana, I got higher mileage than I do here in Cali. Different gas blends?

'06RT (Better gas mileage due to red color!)

20,500 miles, 50.1 overall mpg; 56.5 High and 43.5 Low

All figures actual calculations and the computer mpg readings average 3% optimistic. Almost exclusively 93 octane.

Never trust the computer, always do the math. Miles diivided by gallons. My 06 RT, also red, averages 45 mpg. I've gotten as high as 50, and as low as 38 in the winter with the corn liquor gas they sell in Cal.

I have a 06 RT, I can get up to 50 miles average, but I typically get 42 mpg per tank. I do know I've gotten up to 60 mpg on some rides the get the best mpg when driven very, very slowly, like 60 mph.

Hope this helps.

Must be something wrong with mine, I've averaged 36.5, that's with passenger and trailer but we are both under 160lbs. and bushtec trailer loaded maybe 225 total, the best I've gotten when not loaded down is about 43, that's with only me and nothing in the bags. These are accurate figures done by calculating the actual amount of fuel added and miles ridden.

Lowest is Passenger + camping gear getting 38-42 mpg. After my 6000 miles service, things improved and I get 45-48 2-up and I've gotten 50mpg riding mostly solo on backroads.

I think I've noticed some correlation between mileage and oil level. If the oil is past the 1/2 way mark on the glass, mileage drops and the engine is a little less smooth.

Overall I'm very impressed with the mileage. Only my 250cc dual sport did better. It got 55-60mpg. My sportbikes rarely did better than 40-45.

From new in Feb, I have covered 14k miles and I have averaged 53.3 mpg (UK) (and 50mph!!). As you have guessed, I spend a lot of time on motorways at the 70-80mph mark but also do a lot of low-speed weaving.

1 Imperial Gallon (U.K.) = 1.2 Gallons (U.S.)

so 53.3MPG (U.K.) becomes about 43 MPG (U.S.)

I think you're on to something, my local BMW dealer keeps all of their bikes at 1/2 full mark in the oil winder. I've done the same with good results, however if I'm going to go away for a long weekend trip (500+ milies) I'll fill er up closer to the top of the window.

If someone could do the math I've been getting between 4.6 l/100 km (highway 110-120 kph) to 5.0 l/100 km mixed city/highway.

I have 6,500 miles on my 08 RT.

My low has been 38 mpg while going 70 mph into a 30 to 35 mph headwind 1 up, but fully loaded with touring stuff across the panhandle of Texas. My high was 53 mpg at 65 MPH or so at 9,000 feet elevation in Colorado with minimal wind and packed just like it was in Texas.

I'm not sure why, but I consistently got better gas mileage above 5,000 foot elevation. Around town I seem to get 48 mpg.

You are getting better mileage at high altitudes because you are pushing less air out of the way. Your motorcycle has less work to do at high speeds. The worst situation is sea level, high-speed highways, in winter. It is cold, dense air using winter gas which in California seems to have less energy content. In addition, in winter the windshield is usually up all the way which I think adds to drag.

For the summer - over all conditions, low lands, mountains, freeways, byways - the mileage is basically 50mpg. ('07)
