I would ask the 'Seller' one very specific question: Does the sidewall say...160/70 B 17 79V REINFTL...if it does not, its not the correct tire.

Metz does make the 160/70 B17 in a lighter load carrying model.

 I won I won

Thanks Steve,

Averill--The "P/N 110-10448, ME880, 160/70VB17 RR, rear tire" part number is correct for the LT.

I just bought one from the Harley-group for $135.00 not that long ago. Now I'll have 3 in my garage (don't tell my wife ;) ).

Must be time for a burn-out!!

Just got one at the buy it now price! I am thrilled and plan on experimenting with he front tire where there is less of a load issue and many more choices available including tires from Kenda which I loved on my K100RT. With the LT, finding the right size for the rear in alternative tires with correct load rating has always been an issue.

There are only a few choices available (as far as I can tell) Avons and Bridgestones seem to be the only others (beside Metz) rated for the LT. Hate to have a sidewall failure trying to save a "couple of bucks".

The Bridgestones (for me) were a reasonable compromise (price and life).

Ride safe.

What is the date code? Are these really fresh tires or old stock that tire dealers have unloaded to others to resell?

You may be right. That's why I said experiment. I believe IRC and others make the front in the right size and I will of course verify that the load rating is appropriate. On the other hand, I always ride one up and the biggest problem with the rear tire is that no one other than the brands you mention make the correct size. I had excellent results in the past on K100RT with the metz in the back and the Kenda Challenger in the front.

OK,

Just to "close the loop".

The tire came as promised. Brand new with the "parts USA" tape on it.

The "date" of the tire was about 2 years old (September 2006). It also had a $188.00 price tag on it.

I'm going to run it. I don't know what the shelf life of tires is, but, two years doesn't bother me at all. I've seen plenty of bikes with tires installed more than 5 years (some up to 15 years) old that looked (and ran) fine.

Its going "in stock" for me. Anyone in desperate need of a rear (tire----of course) in the Mooresville NC let me know.

All in All Great deal. Can't imagine a dealer "sitting" on this same tire NOT selling it to the next one wanting one installed.
