Schuberth Heated visor

For those that drive through winter and use Schuberth helmets, there is a Schuberth heated visor that can be installed. Works fine, just plug into the power plug and never have foggy view.

Do you mean it plugs into the aux power socket on your KLT? I thought it was battery-powered. It looks like it has horizontal heating elements set into the visor - are these at all distracting? How much did you pay? Normal price seems to be about 189 Euro, although Busters (http://www.busters-accessories.co.uk/) sell them for GBP 99.00 (about 144 Euro). What benefits does it give over the Proshield Clear Fog City Visor Insert (http://www.busters-accessories.co.uk/proddetail.asp?prod=F140A) (23 Euro), for example?

My local Schuberth dealer (where I bought my C2's) said that they're not available in the UK, so not sure if Busters were correct with their info.

I saw a helmet on Busters that you can't buy in the USA. An Takachi TK25 for L24.95. Does someone know what the rate of exchange in US dollars this would be and would they sell one to the USA. Any information would greatly be appreciated.

For conversion rates, go to Google and type in the amount, currency, and what currency you want the result in (i.e., "24.95 pounds in dollars"). This works with just about every unit of measurement imaginable. :)

I use the Financial Times (http://mwprices.ft.com/custom/ft-com/html-currency-summary.asp?query=now&view=currency-front) web-site. They show the current rate as 1 GBP = US $1.75970, although your credit card company is likely to give you a worse rate of exchange. Yes, Buster will ship the Takachi TK25 (http://www.busters-accessories.co.uk/products.asp?id=424) to you in the States. They use Parcelforce and shipping is likely to cost you an additional GBP 19.00, making the total cost about $77, plus any taxes from US Customs.

I emailed Schuberth Germany (Ebert@schuberth.de) about the heated visor and received the following reply:

the heated visor won't be produced any more. Also it was only availible for the Concept, not the C2
No explanation as to why. Anyway, it seems that Hans obtained old stock.

Dear David & others,

Pinlock can not be used on Schuberth helmets. I might have chosen that solution instead. Like on the rear window of a car it can be cleaned using current but it uses a lot of that to make the visor heated up. The horizontal lines are so small you won't see them. They are also too close to your eyes and you have a concentrate very good to even see them when the helmet is on.

So, it can not be battery powered and I use the power outlet at the left side of the bike. For Schuberth helmets this is very good, I do not have to open and close the helmet anymore while stopping.

Fog City does make visor inserts that don't need the pins to work. I used them on my System IV helmets in the UK, but haven't really had the need here in sunny SoCal. :D

Pinlock can not be used on Schuberth helmets.

Don't know about Pinlock, but, as Ken says, Fog City make a double-curvature insert (the Proshield range) that will work with Schuberth visors. My Dutch isn't as good as yours :) but check out this thread (http://www.motor-forum.nl/forum/topic/81765), for example.
