Top box will not open

Hi, today my BMW top box will not open. The push button goes in but the latch does not flip up. Anyone has this before and have a solution? Thanks, George

sometimes mine wont open if it got crammed shut and something is in the way of the clamps inside . Release the handle remove it from the rack and shake it about then try it again. Overloading can lead to jamming the mechanism . My button is always very hard to mash in also. Not sure why.
It's a great system when it works but sometimes it can be a pain.

It's NOT a Great System, the latch is junk! :(

If you are having problems, just wait, it'll break soon.

Are the LT and RT latches the same? Will the one discussed fit an RT? Thanks, George

George, first, let me apologize for cross-posting. I didn't look to see what forum I was diving into! Sorry.

Second, I don't know the answer to your question. But, if the same vendor makes the latch for your RT, you can expect the same results as many of us have seen on the LT side...failure!

If there are enough problem RTs, contact Mike Gore and see if maybe he'll consider putting together a kit for you Oilheads! And, that might include the new GT folks too!

Thanks. I took that sucker apart to clean and apply grease to all the moving and rubbing parts. It works now. I hope forever, but we will see. I still do not know what the deal was, but your suggestion to shake it vigorously worked when it would not open. Take care, George
