I witnesses and interesting electronic message pop-up on my screen yesterday (not today that I noticed). Where the temp read out was presented it would change to "Oil check mark" (symbol only) when I was stopped at red light. As soon as I proceeded ahead the messaged changed back to temp at 89 degrees. Any thoughts. I assume the oil level is correct and it is only confirming so. I wonder why.

Happens all the time on my 2007 R1200RT when stopping, or if I'm on a hill. I have asked the dealer three times to check this out. Of course when the bike is at the dealer, he does not see this message. First time I got the message, I was on a ride thru some hills. Found a flat, level area to stop, got down on my knees to look at the sight glass and seen a normal level of oil. I think the sensor is too sensitive, but I don't know. Michelle. :wave

Same here. Dealer says that it has been reported by a few other RT owners too. Not to worry though, the symbol indicates that the oil is OK.

Always seemed odd to me too when I looked down only to see the check mark. I've always chalked it up to "I musta hit the BC button 1 too many times". Now y'all got me thinking that I'm loosin' it! :(

 My 07RT has the same symptom. At first I thought that something was wrong, but after 2 trips to the dealer and having the sensor checked, their answer was everything is OK.I check the oil every time it happens and the oil is always full.As long as I check the oil before I go somewhere and it is full,I can live with it.Rode about 100 miles today and going to do about 200 tomorrow. The bike just gets better every time I ride. :)

The oil level readout is one of the OBC's normal functions -but it only operates while the bike is stationary with the motor running. If you keep the display set on the outside temp reading, it will switch to the oil level when stopped and revert back to temp when moving. (Exception being '05 and early '06 models without the float and software upgrades.) The possible displays are the check for level OK, "<!>" meaning the level is low and "----" meaning the level cannot be calculated.

This is good info. I suspected the (check) was OK however I could not find it referenced the manual. I prefer checks marks to the alternative. Thanks folks for the info.

Agreed. Good info. I'll need to pay attention to this as mostly I do have the BC on temp and when I do see the check it's at a stop. Pressing BC once puts it back on temp.

I found it on P.45 of my 2006 model manual - check the section on the Computer functions.
Also, as I understand it, the reading references the last check, so you could get the checkmark when first starting the bike - indicating the level was fine when you had shut it down.
