Found them for 169.14 at wpsracing.com

Anyone around me want one? They hardly charge shipping on more than one tire. Will help with delivery. I will order 2 again for myself soon.

That's a great find. Southwest (the largest seller of Metzelers in the country) has them for $198.00 currently.

Neil,
What size and rating are those you bought?

I put Metzeler ME880 120/70VB-17 Front on this spring and can only find
120/70VR-17 on their site.

Anyone know the difference between VR & VB?

Um, I just called that place about that tire & was told that it WASN'T for the bmw 1200 lt, & didn't have the load rating for it. The price for the LT one was
$212.

Ordered supposedly the right tire a couple of days ago from bikebandit. Didn't get the email conformation. So I got a little nervous & called them. The idiot sent the wrong tire (I thought the price ($148.00) was too good to be true)
They wanted $280 for the right tire. (Nixed that) Now I have to mess with a return shipping label, etc for when the tire does arrive.
Looks like swmoto from here... :brick:

Update: Just found the right tire here a little cheaper than swmoto.

B is for bias
R is for radial

I didn't buy them yet. I just use the Metzler rear 160/70 VB17. I use Avon's front. It only shows the 120/70 VR17 front which is the radial front.

By the numbers it shows the correct tire on the website. I'm going to order 2 and if it is the wrong tire, they better send me the right tire. I've got the screen shot saved on my computer just in case.

http://www.angelfire.com/ks2/harley/ is the link to California Phil's... yeah, he sells HD mostly, but sez:
front tire $111
rear tire $184

So, that's $295 for a set...

plus shipping....

I just called them ( wpsracing.com) as well for my order that I placed last night for this rear tire. They confirmed the price ($169.14) and and also confirmed that it would fit BMW K1200LT as well. They also said that they packaged up and about to send my order to me. The web site says "Metzeler ME 880 Marathon High Mileage Rear Tires, 160/70VB-17 ....." this is exactly LT's tire spec.

Well, your probably right. I'm kinda new to all of this since I've only had my LT for 3 weeks. I was just going by what the lady said on the phone. I've learned that they don't always know what they are talking about. Ran into that problen also with bikebandit.

I'm doubtful. I think the tire you are looking at is part no. DS03080022
Metzeler ME 880 Marathon High Mileage Rear Tires, 160/70VB-17 V-Twin (D) - For Deuce and Dyna models Sale price: http://us.st12.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/whitespitstop_2015_106576023

SWMoto Tires has that part no. as Metzeler ME880 160/70B-17 Harley
Code: 03080022
Price: $140.95

The rear tire for the LT is part no. 11010448 (The front is 11010447.)
SWMoto Tires has it listed as:
Metzeler ME880 160/70VB-17 Rear BMW Price: $198.95

If the tire you receive does not say it's reinforced, don't put it on. It's the same size, but will not handle the load. I know because I had to put on a non reinforced tire once in an emergency, and it was really squirrely.

I think you are right. I went to Metzeler website and there are two types of tires for the same size.

160/70 B 17 M/C 73H TL
160/70 B 17 M/C 79V REINFTL

It is very likely that I am getting the first one although the second one is for LT. I will try to cancel my order tomorrow.

I just went through all this last week. There are the 2 different 160/70 - VB17's out there. The LT requires the 79 weight rating on the rear with the reinforced sidewall, which is more expensive.

I did find one place that had the correct rear priced at $164 but with $27 shipping. I'm not playing that game so I bought once again from my old standby Dennis Kirk. 194.99 for the tire and $5 shipping. A little more than the $164 deal with the higher shipping cost, except Dennis Kirk isn't playing the price and shipping game, and Kirk ships right away. Got the tire in 3 days.

All my previous supplier's, Ayers, SWMoto, are about the same or more than Dennis Kirk. Can't find any screaming deals right now. I'm going to talk to my local tire mounter today and see if they can get me the tires for the same as I'm getting them online and keep the profits local.

I got a new one two weeks ago. I didn't have time to go online and wait for shipping, needed a front tennis shoe right away, so I called my local BMW dealer and they had a ME880 120/70VB17F in stock. Price was $159.95, tax was $11.20 tax

After coming from Bridgestones, I LOVE the Metzler!!!
