I am installing my new autocom pro7. I have done a search and can not find an answer to my questions. I need to hook up a cell phone and a radar detector to one input. Autocom has a splitter for this but is 60-70 bucks. Is this necessary or can I get a splitter from radio shack for 6 bucks? I would like a longer cable to reach the front of the bike. The autocom splitter only adds about 8 inches. Also what happens if I want to add something else like my gps? Only have the one aux input.

Brian:

You have a few options. You could spend $s and get the Mix-it or build one yourself. I did the latter. Built a 3 into 1 passive mixer. All you need is a project box, 10K ohm resistors, 3 inputs and one output jack and some solder. Total cost under $25.00

Raffy,
Thanks for the quick reply. That sounds exactly what I'm looking for. Where Can I find more info?

on the Mix-it? Or the passive mixer? If the latter, then go to the old site on Yahoo and look int the files section. There was a good writeup. As far as parts, any electronics parts store should have all this stuff (Radio Shack to name one of few.)

Passive mixer, I am not a member of the yahoo site. I applied, I am waiting on their approval. I thought that site was dead since this one came about.

Raffy,

Thanks for the info... I was just about to order a Mix-it.

Do you (or anyone else out there) know if the resistors in this will help with ground-loop noise?

I would like to use this to connect my Radar Detector and iWay 500 to the input on my VOICE II. The radar detector (Passport 8500) has a serious ground loop issue.

If the resistors won't help can anyone recommend a ground loop isolator w/ 1/8" (3.5mm) connections. I think the radar detector uses 3.5" mono.

Thanks all!
Tim
