Good Afternoon,
Can one of you verify what size Torx bit I need to remove the rear wheel fasteners on my '08 RT. (Yes, I know, the one that fits... very funny) Just asking to make sure I don't screw up any hardware when I go to remove the rear wheel from my bike.
Thanks.

My tool kit came with a tool for removing the bolts. Not sure of your year or if your bike came with the tool. Might check.

It would be a T-50, here is the RepROM page for you.

Thanks for the assist! Appreciate the RepROM page. The T50 I have. The apparently special tool for removing the front axle, I do not. Any work arounds? Thanks again for helping.
Cheers.

Sure hope the mobile tire guy has one of those! Otherwise, he's wasting his time. Thanks.

Front wheel removal tool workaround... sure.
Get down there and take a careful measurement across the flats of the opening. Write it down.
Go to a good hardware store (this is the toughest part of the job- finding a good hardware store) find a large nut that is very close to the size of the opening in the front axle. Obviously just smaller is better than just larger unless you have a bench grinder... it does not have to be a perfect fit.
When the time comes insert the nut part way and hold the part not inserted with a wrench. There you go...

Did messenger13 not have some good fortune with a spark plug box wrench?
You can use the spark plug thingy from the LT toolkit to remove the LT's axle and they are probably the same size.

A standard spark plug socket, inserted "backwards", and a pair of Channel Lock or similar pliers, will do the trick for the front axle, no cost, no fancy tool needed. Don't forget to loosen the pinch bolts first.

"The right tool for the job..." comes to mind. I have seen some pretty messed up bolt heads as a result of using something "good enough" to do the job. You know you could remove those bothersome Torx screws with an Allen wrench too!
The Marc Parnes multi-tool I recommended is elegantly simple, very light weight, and performs as the name implies, more than one function. It seems to be a simplification, in terms of tools required, to use it. But... YMMV! :)

I'm with BMWphreak on this. I'm a believer in having the right tool for the job, though, I'd never even begun to think about trying a spark plug socket. Actually, what REALLY amazes me (and what I truly love about this forum) is the great discussion coming out of this relatively simple question. Thanks again all.
Cheers!

Windman,
I got rid of the "beak" when I traded in my '05 R1150R! BCVBeck.
