I looked for some early posts regarding this - didn't find anythang here, nor on the Hill Country BMW Riders website, so ---

Just wuz talking with Stevie Shreeve (into Tejas and running about 2 hours behind Grif) and he mentioned that ?Jim?, a member of the Hill Country BMW Riders, had a get-off yesterday during the HCBMWR breakfast gig. If I heard Stevie right, a truck pulled out in front of ?Jim? and his girlfriend, and Jim wuz airflighted to a hospital (I think it is Breckenridge hospital near Austin). No word yet to Stevie regarding the condition and injury report.

For those who don't know, this HCBMWR member is the feller who bought David Kinsey's yellow/black stripe LT. No word on it's condition either.

I'll keep checking the HCBMWR website for any news and hospital report, and post it here. In the meantime, thoughts and prayers are welcomed, and thanks to Stevie and his concern and for the heads up. He should be back home in Austin later this afternoon and will add to this thread. I'm going to make it a sticky while we wait on further news.

The HCBMW Rider was John and I've not heard any other word in him, his girl friend or the bikes condition. Hope to know something soon.

Hey, Bud - welcome back home. Glad you had a safe trip.

Lissen - I must be doing the surfing wrong, or .... does the HCBMWR website not have a message board?? I couldn't find it, and maybe that's why I only get an email alert when it's breakfast time in the Hill Country!! Just wonderin'.

Hope you find out that John (sorry I buggered the name!) will be alright.

No Message board but they are working on it

Update on John... He hit a truck head on as the truck turn in front of him on a blind hill/curve on RR12 out of San Marcus. he and his Girlfriend flew over the truck. John wore a Helmet but no other gear. There is lots of road rash and a broke collar bone on John. His girl friend is still in "Guarded" condition
As for "The Yellow" bike it was a total loss.

Here was what was posted on twtex.com:

Here is what I got from the club president.

-=-=-

It was John Morrell, and a friend, on his bright yellow LT. He was
cut off by a late left turning F-150 in San Marcos. One of our riders, Greg,
brought news and a picture [aren't cell phone wondrous] - it looked really
bad - obviously a head-on collision.

Barnaby got some feedback about his condition - broken scapula and lots of
bruises - friend is also going to be okay. But, the bike looked totaled! And
the truck had to be towed away as well.

Steve,

Pass along our best wished for John and his GF's quick recovery. Unlike most LTs, the bike cannot be exactly replaced but its people what counts!

Russ and Cathy

PS, not to rub it in but a good reminder for ATGATT.

I hope they recover soon. Are they in the hospital or at home recouping?

My go out to both Steve and his girl friend. I think we all fear that day that someone else's neglect harm or kills us with no fault of our. May God's blessing be on them. A rider for life. :bmw: Arnie33
