I have just order a Roady 2 satellie radio. I have ordered the Hoon Hardware mount for the clutch side. I have the Baehr system in my LT so I ordered the cable for that. Is there anything else I will need to install it on my 2005 LT?

You already have more than you need. You don't need the wire unless you want it hard wired. All you need for power is a female lighter plug from any auto parts store or Walmart. I put my receiver in the glove box & don't have to worry about weather.

If I understand you I do not need the Baehr cable to go through my helmet speakers. Will the receiver play through the bike radio and I will hear it through the helmet?

I have the SAME stuff as you :p

The TRICK way is to get the delphi inline FM modulator. This way the Roady II only needs 2 wires (power & antenna) & what ever assigned FM fequency you chose will be over ridden by any broadcast on it ;)

This puts the RoadyII into the Radio system first so you have full volume & tone controll before it go's into the Baehr comm system & your helmet.

You DO NOT want to wire it dirrect into one of the comm AUX inputs.

PS. as for power, Roady II takes 6 volts that is converted within there 12V cigerette adaptor ( Don't use it !!) Check online from XM vendors the hardwire power converter (12V to 6V & power plug to fit the R-II)

The Roady 2 has a built in FM modulator... Just pick a station and tune to it. I also put mine in the oddments box so I don't have to worry about weather (I looked at the Hoon mount, but it came down to weather). It might move to my brand new Chicane tank bag, but for now it's fine. I used a couple of small pieces of velcro to mount the antenna just above the radio display on the bike, works great. My only issue is running the power cord down to the outlet. I know there are other ways of getting power, but I just haven't been adventerous enough to try.

Good luck!

Scott,

Thanks for the information. I have been looking for a power converter. I ordered one from myradiostore. This was the cheapest price I had found for one. I was thinking about getting a female lighter plug but this will be better. Thanks again.

I have the female lighter plug connected at the fuse box, plugged in the Roadie, the plug lays under the back seat. Ran the wire up the frame, drilled a hole in the glove box to get the power cable & antenna cable in. You don't need anything to hook up the audio, the built in FM modulator will do that for you.

Your right about the R-II having it's own internal modulator :( It does not sound very good :( neither did the cassette adaptor.

The hardwire modulator is THE ticket for quality sound ;) with our LT's

Not sure about the cable for teh Behr system but what I used for my Roady 2 is the FM modulator through the antenna cable under the left side of the radio above the tank. It is exposed when the left side panel is removed. I really like my Roady 2 on there. I used the same mount as you ordered. All cables are hidden down with the modulator next to the antenna cable for the radio.

The in-line FM Modulator allows a wired connection between the XM unit and the stereo, instead of a "through the air" connection which you get using the XM units built-in FM Modulator. Leads to improved fidelity.

I have the hoonware mount on the front brake reservior. I had it hardwired in so there are no wires running down to power acc.. I just use the FM modulator that was built into the Roady. It sounds excellent but I have had some problems finding an unused frequency in a big city. As for rain Hoon sales a plastic cover for it. I used heavy duty velcro to hold the roady onto the Hoonware. Then I just pull it off when I want to move it to the car. I bought another power plug at Best Buy for the car since they used the one that came with it for hardwiring to the bike.

Ok,

I just bought a XM Roady and the fm modulator to hard wire it... I did this in my truck with a SkyFi and it works great... so answer me this... can I use the fm modulator with the Roady for power and everything or not... due to the Roady being 6v.. kinda the same situation but I am still confused

That's where I have mine (in the map pouch so I can change stations). I also use the supplied small antenna (stuck on a old metal electrical wall plate) and it works great.

good luck!

For power use this : "Hardwire car adaptor" for Roady 1 & 2 / Ski fi 1 & 2 / Son / XR 9

For signal from roady to radio use: " Delpi FM direct SA-10112"
