Did you take the back road (506??) up to Las Vegas NM from Tucumcari?.....then on to Taos past Sippapoo (SP?) ski lodge??
Las Vegas NM (Storrie Lake) is my usual overnight camping spot on my way up into CO. Its about a 700 Mile day From Austin....do-able with an early departure. An historically interesting town (more historically significant homes per capita than any other city in the country), and a couple of great places to eat. Spic and Span is great for Breakfast and there are a number of places to grab some local grub....(green chiles.....mmmmmmm)....probably could find some pie.
Where did you find the apple pie?

Hey, hey, Muns. Wuzn't it a great day?? Made me :wave at everybody I saw - even a coupla cages just to give 'em sumpthin' to wonder about (who the heck wuz that??? :histerica ).
Several of us (Russ/Kathy/Bert/Monte/CR/Davey/me) met for breakfast at the OST in Bandera (OST = Old Spanish Trail restaurant frequented by John Wayne when filming in these parts). Church, chat, and rides followed. Love these 60 by 60 mornings (60 mph @ 60*)!!
Chat, btw, means leaving plenty of time for folks to check out Monte's MP3 --- thang draws a crowd of friends and strangers. Several of the wimmens folks thought they just might take a closer look at one, at a dealer pretty soon!!! Matter of fact, one lady, who works with Davey, drove in and wuz interested in the new-in-the-hood MP3, cuz she already has one!! That makes three here in the Boerne/Kerrville/S.A. area.
Say "Hi, Sweet Pea" for me, Rev. Cya soon.
