I'm a newbie - just checking things out. I'm on the taller side of things - as I note in the title. I'm looking at the RT or LT. For you taller guys, what do I need to think about with this choice and my size? The co-pilot is 5'7" and is petite. Looking at a mix of commuter for me, and tourer.

Come on now ..... this is after all an LT site.
6'1" here, wife 5'3" .... LT for us, an RT was just too small and cramped for 2 up touring. But as a commuter riding solo, wish I had an RT at times.

I am 6'2/6'3ish and I got my 2008 R1200RT delivered Wednesday and with the LOW seat set in high position I am comfortable. I have only ridden a little bit as I only had about 15 minutes on the bike before I had to park in the garage and go on vacation; but riding position was great for my size. I guess my legs are a TAD bunched up but nothing uncomfortable....
BTW - LOTS O power there to tame and learn; going to be a fun getting to know experience....
Good luck with your choice!

I am 6'5" and have had both. The RT is more comfortable for me. I add the peg lowering kit from Suburban Machinery and their bar risers.
When I tried to use the peg kit on the LT I found that the ground clearance was severally compromised.
But, my wife does not care to ride and if she does we take the Wing.
Do not!! Repeat, Do Not! let your wife set on the LT or your choice will be made for you. It would (probably) be much more comfortable for her.
With either be prepared to spring for a custom seat. These were not made for us normal sized guys.
Good luck. Hard to go wrong so let us know what you pick.

I had an LT and sold it and got a CLC. Then I sold my R80RT and got a R1100RT.
Two up Interstate Touring. Nothing better than the LT. The CLC is just as good and more comfortable for me. Although not as much room in the cases.
Around town and any other application, The RT is my choice.
Light, Agile beyond belief, I throw it around like a 250 enduro. Just as good weather protection as the LT. Better windshield control and airflow control.
I don't get the hip cramps on the RT or the CLC that I got everytime I got on the LT.
