I have a Minolta X-50, which is a great little point and shoot, and allows one handed operation while riding and wearing motorcycle gloves. Turns on by opening the protective lens cover door, fires by pressing a nice clear button on the top - no other junk surrounding the button.
I am very happy with the camera and the pictures, except for one feature. Whenever you turn it off, it resets to total automatic mode, regardless of the setting you were on. For example, if you set it for "Bright Sun", "Cloudy", "Portrait", "Action", it forgets that and goes back to automatic.
Now my question - Does the Canon 870 do the same thing, or will it turn back on at the same settings as when you turned it off? If it does the same thing, I'll just keep the Minolta. There is nothing in any of the manuals that will tell you what it does in this circumstance.
