The love of my life was relatively happy on the RT until we took a 3500 mile trip on the LT. Now I am trying to sell the LT, get down to one bike but the Passenger comfort subject is an issue. I am considering DayLong custom seats by Russell---anyone with experience with the Passenger seat or other suggestions?? Nathan

In my view the RT is only comfortable if you get the right fit between driver passenger and suspension settings. It is a sportier approach in my view and that is what makes it so compelling. The LT is the Luxury boat and for the money and ride, Id just as soon drive the Gold Wing. All the bells and whistles are less of a hassle and comfort and drivability and power is all superior on the wing. The Wing's lower CG is most compelling though the styling and quality feel of the Lt is most compelling.
There is a reason the wing outsells all others in its field but for some sport input in the mix , that is when the RT just runs away with the marbles. Again it is just only old farts opinion

I've tried many,
Russell is the best by far.

Just invested in a Russell saddle....rider w/backrest, passenger seat, both with weight tuned spring support, backrest re-do, Muddiman armrests, and Cee Bailey's #2 shield.
We are in riding comfort heaven.........do it, you won't regret it.

Just to clarify.....I installed the Russell saddle on an LT.
You can just go to Day-Long.com and click on the gallery and look at a couple of different LT's as well as other BMW's. Mine looks just like the one on the wine colored LT.

I just spent 2,400 miles in 11 days on an R12RT with a Russell seat. Did not even notice any discomfort. I have had Mayer seats and, hands down, my butt appreciates the Russell.

Just my FYI on the Russel seat ... I don't like it. On my RT or Concours. I hated the wings as they make a pocket that you can't move around on. You are stuck there. No matter how much one spot starts to bother you , you just can't move away from it. I will never own another Russel Day-Long seat because of the way it is designed.
I know some people love the Russel because of the wings as it can provide more surface area and lower the weight distribution, but it just doesn't work for me. It may not work for you either. If you do go that route, be sure to get a money back guarentee if you just can't stand it. Or make sure he'll redesign the seat for you at no cost.
Personally I find it more cost effective to pay for better shocks and other ergonomic items (bar risers, elf pegs, etc.) than custom seats, but YMMV.
