Hi,new member first post.I'm looking at trading my present bike for an 1150/1200 RT or 03/04K1200GT.Because of circumstances I have to have dealer maintenance,I have read(once)that this model K bike is easier & lower maint cost than the RT,I would appreciate any advice/comments on this,or any other comparison of the 2 Bikes.(also considering a Guzzi Norge) :)
Cheers,Brit.

I think the maintenance costs would be fairly similar on both bikes.

Only difference being a couple of spark plugs.. Otherwise they're pretty much the same. I guess some of the RT's are dual spark so there you go...

Ride them both, See which one speaks to you...

Good Luck,

John

The K1200GT is a smoother running bike than the RT and has considerably more horsepower (approx 135hp vs 95hp for the 1150RT). I think the GT is a better running bike (more throttle-twisting fun) than the RT. For long haul touring, the RT probably gets the nod due to the superior protection from wind, rain, etc provided by the RT's fairing. The GT is simply a more tour-friendly version of the K1200RS. They are both terrific rides; I have always preferred the smoothness and power of the 4 cylinder K-bike engine - just a personal preference.

Take both machines for as long a test ride as you can negotiate and then decide. I don't think you will prefer the Guzzi Norge to either of the Beemers (my opinion based on a 40-mile test ride I took on a Norge two years ago).

Best of luck on your comparisons/acquisitions.
