Hey all. Just got the new (to me) 2007 GSA. What a ride. Now to install some goodies.
1) Where in the heck are folks putting the (2) ballasts for the HID's? Looking at micro DE driving lights. Under the beak, wet??
2) Now where does the ballast go for the LB conversion.
3) Also where are folks putting their autocom? Looking around I am thinking about moving the tool kit and installing there but are there other options.
4) Can I wire my gps and lights etc up to the battery like I did on the LT or?? This Can bus thing has me confused.
Any and all ideas, thoughts etc are very very welcome.
Thanks! Ken

I built brackets and isntalled them on the right and left sides of the bike between the side panels and frame, I mounted the autocom under the windshield support, I made a shelf and mounted all realys on it along with the gps radar siurus raido and gmrs., there is one power feed running from the battery to the front of the bike
here a pic, i do have detailed pics of everything but wow I'd have to dig them up, ok I did find one of the right side balast mounted, this bike also has the GSA winglets on it
so here are two pics

I put my Autocom Active Plus and Touratech TPS-15 Power Module (http://www.touratech-usa.com/shop/show.lasso?SKU=044-0450&-session=touratech:1813DCD2141e816C42UUX286DBAC) in the tool tray under the seat. The tools went into one of my sidecases along with the other tools and supplies I have added. My Touratech Hella Micro DE ballast is in the same location as Tom's setup. It is behind the beak tupperware below and behind the headlight assembly. It has a bracket that hangs it from the top frame rail.
My Zumo 550 GPS and cell phone are mounted to a Touratech Handlebar Crossbar (http://www.touratech-usa.com/shop/show.lasso?SKU=040-0603&-session=touratech:1813DCD2141e816C42UUX286DBAC) using a Touratech MVG Locking Mount (http://www.touratech-usa.com/shop/show.lasso?SKU=065-0142&-session=touratech:1813DCD2141e816C42UUX286DBAC) and MVG PDA Large Mount (http://www.touratech-usa.com/shop/show.lasso?SKU=040-0603&-session=touratech:1813DCD2141e816C42UUX286DBAC).

Good stuff, thanks guys.
Although making brackets is not my strong suit. I wish there were some brackets I could by for this. Hmmm, interested in making a set? Renton WA, hmmm, it gets even better as I am in Bellevue. I do need to mess around with some of the plastic removal.
I currently have my 2820 mounted on my LT with Ram mounts. Does anyone know how much the ram system vibrate off road? Is the TT rubber mounted system that much better? At least with the ram it looks like I can get it out of my field of vision for the dash. The windshield versions look like they would vibrate well beyond acceptable limits, but that is based on a gut feel as I have not seen one in practice.
I think I currently (on LT) have the power robbed to the map light for the GPS if I remember correctly. I assume that I can't rob like this with Can bus? I prefer but an not locked into the idea of non-keyed power for the GPS so I can use it with the bike off. But I am flexible. I do like the TT power master idea. Maybe I will run my lights off of this downstream of a switch. Or maybe I can rob power from the headlights to power the new lights? So much to learn. Maybe I need to really figure canbus out; that seems to be my most confusing part. For instance I am not sure if I can plug my battery charger into the outlet plug to charge or not. Also I am finding that I will now need to directly link my heated gear to battery.
I am also looking for a easy on and off holder for my kenwood bike to bike radio on the Bars and will need to power this as well. Will this ever end?? :) (I hope not)

Davenport. Funny, I had never heard of Davenport until I stopped there at a BnB a couple of weeks ago.

Like the 2820 the Zumo uses solid state memory so shock mounting isn't as big of an issue as it might be with hard drive based GPS units. I went with the Touratech mount primarily because of the locking feature but the engineer in me liked the shock mounting even if it is likely a bit of overkill.
If I had taken a picture while I was sitting in the saddle you would have seen that my stock instruments are not obscured by the GPS or cell phone. I have a unobstructed view of the instrument cluster.
The HID bracket is part of the Touratech installation kit for the HID Micro DE driving light. Touratech-USA is located right here in Seattle at 4021 Airport Way So.. I don't know if they would sell you a bracket or the mounting kit by itself but it never hurts to ask.
As far as powering up electronics that is why I went with TPS-15. It is a very compact power relay/terminal block that is compatible with the CAN-Bus system. Of course almost any relay will work if the coil is attached to a switched power source like the powerlet port.
As far as charging through the Powerlet port you will need to buy the super duper BMW CAN-Bus battery charging unit. It is the only charger that will work through the CAN-Bus Powerlet port. Living in the NW you will likely want to power up some Gerbings or other brand of heated gear. I just bought an SAE to Coax (http://cozywinters.com/shop/wg-dcpg150sae.html)adapter and use that to connect my battery charger.
My Micro DE's are powered directly from the battery through relays. The HID Driving Light is slaved to my high beam headlight. The halogen fog light has a switch on the left handlebar.

And yes that is a cruise control. It is a McCruise Cruise Control (http://www.mccruise.com/BMW-orderby0-p-2-mf-75.html). You can see my farkle list here (http://jdsroad.com/2007/12/09/i-think-im-finally-done/) though I have a couple things that are not on the list yet.

6 HIDs - 2 (Hi/Low) 2 fogs (converted factory fogs) and 2 FF50
2 ballasts under the beak, 2 on top of the headlight & 2 in the side panel.
This winter I'm going to replace 4 of the ballast with the newer small ones like the last 2 I bought and install all 6 of them above the headlight.
My Starcom1 is under my seat in the tooltray.
